It’s your last chance to buy LittleBigPlanet 3 in the PlayStation Store this month, before Sony delists the platformer forever.

Sony has announced that LittleBigPlanet 3 and its whole range of downloadable content will be completely wiped from the PlayStation Store on October 31.

This comes six months after Sony said that LittleBigPlanet 3 servers will be taken offline ‘indefinitely’, after they were ‘temporarily’ taken down in January this year, for ongoing technical issues.

The popular platformer will be delisted almost exactly 10 years after it came out, with no exact explanation as to why it’s being removed, but there is a tiny bit of good news to those who already own it.

While the online servers are offline, and it will be removed from sale at the end of the month, Sony said that those who own the game will still be able to play it offline.

‘Anyone that currently owns or purchases LittleBigPlanet 3 or any LittleBigPlanet 3 DLC before it is delisted for sale, will still be able to access their purchased games and content after its removal,’ the game’s Twitter account said.

Surrey-based developer Media Molecule reposted the tweet, saying:

‘LittleBigPlanet shaped us as a studio and remains an important part of who we are. We are and always will be forever grateful for it and the incredible community it has inspired.’

Media Molecule was one of many game studios hit with significant layoffs last year, but at the same time revealed that it is working on a new project.

Whatever that is, it’s still not been officially announced, but the developer’s co-founder, Mark Healey, who has left the company, confirmed that it is a new IP, adding:

‘I would dare to go as far as saying it’s more of a game than a creative tool, from what I understand about it.’

The reason why LittleBigPlanet 3 is being removed might be because lots of the DLC’s content revolves around licenses, such as Doctor Who and Metal Gear Solid, which do eventually expire.

Either way, it’s another blow for game preservation, which has become a hot topic in the video games industry in recent years.
