‘Twisty’ new Netflix thriller is surprise smash as fans praise the ‘best movie of the year’-Laura Harman-Entertainment – Metro

Netflix fans are loving It’s What’s Inside, a psychological thriller that has been praised as the best movie of the year.

It’s What’s Inside is a psychological thriller that launched on Netflix on October 4.

The film has already made its way to the top 10 films on Netflix in the UK as fans have begun to uncover this hidden gem on the site.

The movie, which was filmed in 18 days, had a budget of just $2.5 million (£ 1.9 million) and was first presented to audiences at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2024.

Shortly after Netflix acquired worldwide distribution rights to the film for a whopping $17 million (£12.9 million) – in the largest deal made at the festival edition in 2024.

The movie stars up-and-coming actors including Brittany O’Grady, James Morosini, Gavin Leatherwood, Nina Bloomgarden, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Reina Hardesty.

The synopsis reads: ‘A group of friends gather for a pre-wedding party that descends into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a mysterious game that awakens long-hidden secrets, desires, and grudges.’

After launching on Netflix just a few days ago, fans were blown away by the thriller and took to social media to praise the piece, with many saying they were totally ‘obsessed’ with the film’ and praised it as the ‘best film of 2024’.

‘It’s What’s Inside is so much fun, very well executed with many twists and turns that are both fun and clever. The cast do a phenomenal job of making the film even better, really creative stuff that you should go in blind. Definitely one of my favorites of the year,’ said JeromeM94Movies on X.

‘Oh hell yeah. It’s What’s Inside is a fun ride elevated by its great cast and incredible visuals and editing. I didn’t watch the trailer so I had no idea what I was in for and I’m so glad I went in blind,’ said _samepaige_.

Others wish it had been given a cinema debut as it was such a hit.

Netflix has had some incredible surprise hits in recent months, with homegrown films and ones they have acquired for the platform.

Joyride starring Olivia Colman was a smash as fans were left ‘sobbing’ after the ‘silly little comedy’ turned out to be a hidden gem.

Similarly, the action movie Rebel Ridge was a smash-hit thriller that was watched over 31,000,000 times in the first three days it landed on the platform.
