“It’s the colour of the season in burgundy.

“Love the length. Such a beautiful quality, it’s velvet and burnt out with this print.

“The colours are all of the season, all the burgundy and the chocolate, so it’s super on trend.

Is supermarket fashion the new high street?

DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in:

The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family.
Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a ‘strong growth in clothing’ and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.
Asda’s clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury’s clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year.
So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful?
Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it’s good quality too – with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative.
A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year.
Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.

Rebecca also nabbed a monochrome dress, that’s perfect for looking stylish at the office, as she added: “This dress would be really useful as a workwear dress in the winter.

“It has pockets, it’s a really nice lightweight, drapey quality. You can pair it with smart boots.

“The print is monochrome, super easy, can’t go wrong.

Oriona’s yes or no to Autumn 2024 trends

FASHION pro Oriona Robb has shared her thoughts on this season’s trends….

BurgundyWe’ve seen burgundy hues take over the high-street and according to Oriona: “Burgundy is for everyone.
“Every shop on the high street has got something in burgundy. It pairs really nicely with different colours, it is super easy to wear,” she says.
Leopard printSimilarly with leopard print, Oriona is a big fan: “Leopard print is very in this season and there are lots of prints at Marks & Spencer and Primark.
“But you just have to know what to pair it with and a personality to carry this trend through.”
“I think leopard print is staying.”
Slingback heelsWhen it comes to slingbacks, Oriona says they’re a great investment.“They look really good with a pair of jeans and elevate an outfit, especially if they are a little bit pointed.
“They are everywhere at the moment – definitely an item that should be in your shopping bag.”
WaistcoatsOriona is also a huge fan of waistcoats which she says are here to stay.“I love waistcoats, especially leather ones.
“They’ve been back for two years now, and I think they are staying, they are personally on my list. I think they are definitely one to look into if you don’t own one already.”
PeplumsBut when it comes to peplums, which have recently been spotted in H&M, Oriona explains: “They have that feeling of being something we wore ten years ago, but they are definitely having a moment of come back.
“I even spotted peplum belts with an extra frill at the back but the look is too feminine for me. It’s quite girly and has a romantic feel about it.”
Ballet flats
Similarly with ballet flats, Oriona adds: “They’re classic. I know they’re gonna have a comeback, but at the moment there are more Mary Janes than ballets, or I would go for ballets that have got a slightly thicker, or maybe pointier kind of finish to it.
“If ballet flats are not done correctly, it can look quite dated.”
Bright coloured trainers
If you aren’t sure which trainers to nab this season, according to Oriona, it’s all about the colourful, vintage look with the Adidas Sambas.
She says: “Vintage look trainers are coming back, and that would be my addition in very bright colours.
“So from blue, red, yellow, just to spice up jeans and knitwear.”

“It has a belt so you can tie it or leave it open, but that draws you in.

“I think it’s such a flattering print and shape.”

To finish off the haul, we saw the influencer wear an £18 hoodie, which is great for keeping warm in autumn, as she shared: “This hoodie is such an easy basic to have in your wardrobe.

“It’s a super soft quality. It’s a bum coverer which I love.”
