Liam Payne shared a heartbreaking post of his and Cheryl’s son, months before he died aged 31.

The One Direction star fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16. His cause of death has not been confirmed.

Former X Factor stars have sent condolences to his family, and shared tributes to the Strip That Down singer, with Payne’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry, who was in the process of taking legal action against him, also speaking out.

The likes of Jedward and Olly Murs have also sent their love to his seven-year-old son.

Payne and Cheryl, 41, welcomed Bear in March 2017, just over a year after they started dating.

By July 2018, the couple parted ways, with Payne having spoken about co-parenting with the former X Factor judge in the years that followed.

In March, Payne shared a picture of his son looking up at a billboard promoting his new music.

‘I want to be on a billboard one day daddy,’ he captioned the post.

When fans commented on the post at the time, Payne replied to thank them for their support.

Several others have now taken to his Instagram pictures to comment their devastation at the news of his death.

‘So very sorry and sad for little Bear, seven is no age to lose your Daddy,’ @lizzieloveslife said.

‘This poor boy loosing his father at such a young age,’ @t1oublelou wrote.

In 2022, Payne opened up about how often he sees his son, saying it was two to three times a week.

He heartbreakingly spoke about Bear ‘needing his dad in his life’ and how his son looked at him ‘like a superhero’.

‘And I make sure when I see him, he has 100 percent of my time. I make sure that I’m not on my phone or dicking around somewhere else,’ he said, per People.

Payne added: ‘So, I like to give him those moments and it’s important, he needs that in his life, he needs his dad in his life, and I’m happy he looks at me like a superhero, and I’m hoping to keep it that way.’

Earlier this year, Payne also said his son was his ‘mini-me’, when giving fans an update on his life as a dad.

He said: ‘I’m going to speak to my son in a little bit which I’m really excited about. Bless him. He’s getting so big now. He’s a big boy and he looks like a mini-me.’

Cheryl has also spoken about wanting to keep her son out of the spotlight, telling British Vogue last year: ‘The problem is that I want Bear to have a normal childhood. I don’t want people recognising him on the street.

‘But he’s twigged that I’m famous. The other day he said, “How lucky am I to have famous parents?” I said, “It doesn’t matter.” He goes: “Yeah. But it’s pretty cool.”‘
