Strictly Come Dancing fans think a new curse has emerged after another shock dance-off.

Over the weekend, JLS singer JB Gill and his pro partner Amy Dowden ended up in the bottom two in one of the current series’ most shocking results.

The duo found themselves in the middle of the leaderboard after their Jive to Outkast’s classic Hey Ya!, and they didn’t win the support of the public.

They found themselves in the dance-off against Paul Merson and Karen Hauer, with the judges all voting to save JB.

Everyone was shocked by the turn of events, but fans think a concerning pattern is starting to develop.

On Saturday, JB and Amy were the first to perform, while the previous week, Shayne – another favourite in the competition – was in the bottom two after dancing in the same spot.

Craig Revel Horwood also noticed that both performers ended up slipping into the middle of the pack on the leaderboard.

‘Crazy how JB danced first last night and in the dance off, and Shayne ward danced first last week and too himself there. Going first is a curse lol,’ claimed one viewer.

‘Going first is a proper curse this series,’ a second person added, while a third fan said: ‘Voters with goldfish memories yet again. Two weeks in a row. The curse of first.’

Another person pondered: ‘Ooh that’s a bit of a shock, but i think sometimes opening the show can put you in a risky position. Easy to forgot the first couple especially if they fall in the middle of the leaderboard.’

Despite all four judges choosing to save JB, Shirley Ballas noted there were some mistakes, while Anton Du Beke was critical of his dance-off, insisting the decision wasn’t as ‘easy’ as it should have been.

Paul, who performed his Samba to Car Wash by Rose Royce, admitted his time on the show has been ‘really good’.

‘It’s amazing – everybody. There’s a Tottenham fan over there called Lincoln and even he’s nice,’ he added. ‘It’s been amazing, honestly, amazing. I loved every minute of it, I’ve had a great teacher.’

And Karen said: ‘You’re what Strictly is about and I want to thank you for bringing such joy and just showing everyone that it is possible with a little bit of work and lots of giggles.’

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 6:25 with the results show on Sunday at 7:20 on BBC One and iPlayer.
