Netflix viewers have found themselves on the edge of their seats with the release of psychological thriller Don’t Move.
Directed by Brian Netto and Adam Schindler, the film stars Kelsey Asbille as a young woman facing the fight of her life when she crosses paths with a serial killer (played by Finn Wittrock, of American Horror Story and Ratched fame).
Injected with a paralytic agent, Iris must run and hide before her body shuts down completely, leaving her at the killer’s mercy.
Trapped in a deadly wilderness (Bulgaria, to be precise – doubling for Big Sur, California) Iris is not only at risk of being murdered by a sadistic monster, but also from the miles of rivers, perilous drops and various critters between her and safety.
Killer Richard, meanwhile, is unrelenting in his pursuit of Iris, and will stop at nothing to retrieve his prey. How can she fight back when she, well, can’t fight back?
The film has already shot to top of the streaming giant’s charts, only days after its release last week.
Those who discovered Don’t Move this weekend took to social media to share their thoughts, with many appropriately chilled by its terrifying concept.
‘Watching Don’t Move on Netflix and I’m on edge 😭’ wrote gakahra on X.
‘Yoooo do not watch Don’t Move if you have anxiety 😵💫 had to turn it off 🤢’ saidkralph9__.
‘Don’t Move is stressing me out 😭😭😭’ said melaninreadss.

The face that the film has hooked audiences shouldn’t be too surprised – it has a big name horror producer in Sam Raimi.
The American filmmaker is best known for his Spider-Man trilogy, which starred Tobey Maguire as the big screen webslinger. But before that, he helmed the gore-drenched Evil Dead trilogy, which starred Bruce Campbell as horror icon Ash Williams.

In addition to his own prolific directing work, Sam also produced horror films Crawl, 65 and the action film Boy Kills World.
‘He gave us the greatest script-to-screen notes that we’ve ever received. He’s very involved,’ director Adam Schindler told Collider.
‘It really was illuminating, and we adopted that into our process now to figure it all out. They say don’t meet your idols, but not in the case of Sam Raimi.’

Amid the scares, the film also provoked discourse on a hypothetical scenario which took social media by storm earlier this year – what would you rather be alone with in the woods? A man or a bear?
More than a few pointed out the story’s similarity to this conundrum, with X user xhisfantasy_ writing: ‘Don’t Move is the exact reason why women would choose to encounter a bear alone in the woods over a man.’
In Richard’s cold, relentless and unknowable pursuit, Don’t Move exemplifies why many women would prefer to go for the bear.
