After previously revealing The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft as a special guest, Oasis has confirmed their final 2025 tour support will be Cast.

The 90s band from Liverpool are long-time friends of Noel Gallagher, who praised frontman John Power for being ‘as cosmic as the day is long’.

Cast opened for Liam Gallagher on his solo Definitely, Maybe anniversary tour ahead of the Oasis reunion announcement earlier this year.

This comes after fans gave a mixed response to The Verve reveal, after heavy speculation over who could support the 90s icons on this mammoth tour.

It leaves any continuing speculation over Blossoms or The Courteeners dead in the water after Liam hit back at fans who complained.

Cast are a fellow 90s Britpop success hailing from Liverpool, with their debut album All Change becoming the highest-selling debut album for their label, Polydor.

The news won’t come as a shock to fans who have been eagerly following rumours as Cast were one of the groups heavily suspected to be supporting.

The group, which also includes guitarist Liam “Skin” Tyson and drummer Keith O’Neill, have been compared to rock icons like The Who.

Their first single Finetime landed in the UK Top 20 while follow-up tracks Sandstorm, Alright, and Flying climbed even higher up the charts upon release.

Of the Oasis support announcement, singer John said: ‘I’m blown away at the reunion. Oasis are the voice of a generation and the songs that they wrote and sung were and still are the soundtrack to many people’s dreams.’

He called the famous brothers ‘the people’s band’, although the appreciation appears to be mutual as Noel once called seeing Cast perform live a ‘religious experience’.

John, who was also in The La’s, continued: ‘I’ve known Noel and Liam all through the years, we go way back. It’s been some ride, some journey. I’ve felt and known their music personally, as a fan.

‘It inspired me as songwriter, it blew the whole scene open like nothing before and it reached way beyond the stratosphere. Everything changed. We were all part of that and we will all be part of this.’

Cast released four albums before splitting in 2001, weeks after the record Beetroot failed to secure chart success.

A decade later, the group reformed and released new music, although original member Peter Wilkinson left in 2015 to pursue solo projects.

Earlier this year Cast released their seventh studio album, Love Is The Call, which climbed to number three on the UK Independent Chart.

John and the band will join Oasis at all 19 of their sold-out UK and Ireland leg of the reunion tour next year.

The Walkaway singer added: ‘I’m especially looking forward to revisiting my family’s Irish roots when the tour hits Dublin. Let the opening chords shimmer and shine next July.’
