Big Brother fans have been waiting for the next ‘David’s dead’ and it was only a matter of time before Lily delivered the goods.
On Monday night’s episode, the house telephone rang throughout the day giving housemates various commands and challenges to win prizes.
Towards the evening though, the task took an emotional turn when the heads of house Dean and Ali received phone calls from their respective partners, but they had to speak through another housemate.
Sarah picked up the phone and repeated Dean’s partner Reece’s message word for word, leaving him in buckets of tears.
Later, the housemates stressed if the phone rang again, they wouldn’t want Lily to answer just in case it was another loved one on the other end of the line.
Lily heard that and decided she’d answer anyway. Lo-and-behold it was Ali’s girlfriend Cherrelle, telling Ali how much she loved her and wanted to spend the rest of her life with her.

Cherrelle also said she’d ‘just had a roast dinner’ with Ali’s parents. Lily, however, fed back: ‘She wants to have a roast dinner with your parents,’ shrugging in bewilderment because, admittedly, that would be a weird thing to say had it been accurate.
Cherrelle then said: ‘Tell [Ali] Vivienne said she loves you unconditionally.’ Vivienne is one of Ali’s best friends, so this would make a lot of sense.
Instead, Lily repeated: ‘She loves Lily and Shegs unconditionally,’ referring to herself and Segun, who has been embroiled in a tense row with Ali since calling her a red witch.

Ali was subsequently baffled and said in the Diary Room: ‘I was slightly taken aback by the reference to Segun. That was a bit confusing but if that’s what they said then cool, I can trust what I see is what I get with Segun.’
The other housemates were already peeved with Lily for answering the phone and being incoherent, and they don’t even know the Chinese takeaway worker has shifted the dynamics of the house by not listening to Ali’s girlfriend properly.
It’s a beautiful chaos Big Brother fans hailed as the new ‘David’s Dead’, referring to the moment Tiffany Pollard mistakenly thought David Gest had died and been laid to rest in the bedroom when Angie Bowie, the ex-wife of David Bowie, told her the musician had died of cancer.

On X, Big Brother fan J x wrote: ‘Ali now thinking her family love Segun, and Segun also believing it is just incredible tbh. This is giving David’s dead energy. #BBUK.’
Steve agreed: ‘Lily mishearing Ali’s partner thinking she said she loves Segun ffs. The most ludicrous misunderstanding since David’s Dead #bbuk.’
Jakeheh added: ‘lily answering the phone / incorrectly relaying information was the biggest mess of communication since “david’s dead”.’
Elsewhere Big Brother viewers were also shocked to see Lily and Marcello flirting out of nowhere, potentially becoming the second unexpected romance of the series after Baked Potato and Nathan.
Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
