Call Of Duty players might just have evolved too much (Steam)

Posts and memes are going viral on Reddit and Twitter with fans complaining that Black Ops 6 multiplayer is too hardcore for the casual gamer.

While Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 has generally been received well by fans and critics, especially the impressive campaign mode and the new omnimovement system, there are a handful of burning questions about the multiplayer mode.

One is that there are already ‘undetectable’ cheats up for sale on the internet, but there were also some stability issues at launch and some fans who bought the Vault edition struggled to get their rewards.

Looking through social media, it’s clear that there are more problems than that though, with fans complaining about lobbies full of ‘try-hards’ and no casual gamers in sight.

In a viral Reddit post titled ‘It feels like this game has no casual players and it’s exhausting,’ one fan complained that watching others’ killcams ‘feels like spectating a pro player that makes a living of COD’.

‘I have to play at 100% focus, on the edge of my seat every game to barely go positive,’ they said, adding:

‘Can’t play for more than an hour before needing to put my head in cold water in order to not get an aneurism. It’s sad because COD used to be a casual shooter game where you could hop on and have some fun.’

Another fan posted a video on the Black Ops 6 subreddit showing how they died to a spin-botter (a type of aimbot), saying there were four cheaters on the other team, jokingly adding:

‘Took a break from Zombies to try multiplayer for the first time… You guys are right about these sweaty lobbies.’

The hardcore nature of playing an online Call Of Duty game nowadays was also shared in a meme posted earlier, of someone sweating while playing Black Ops 6 on fast-forward speed.

On top of all that, there’s the issue of players spawning too close to each other, which was an obvious problem during the beta weekend in September.

A viral video on Twitter shows someone killing players on the other team as they spawn right in font of them, and was even rewarded ‘Best Play’ at the end of the game.

Multiplayer Call Of Duty has always been competitive in nature but the complaints about no casual players is interesting. It seems unlikely to be because there aren’t enough players and yet previous entries haven’t had this sort of problem with their matchmaking – at least not to this degree.

At the moment, Activision hasn’t released any sales data or player numbers for Black Ops 6, which is odd considering it came out almost a week ago now.

Microsoft would also probably want to make it clear if Black Ops 6 was a success in bringing new fans to Game Pass, after spending $75.4 billion on buying Activision Blizzard and making the classic shooter free to anyone with a subscription (except for the cheapest tier).
