Croc: The Legend Of The Gobbos still has no exact release date (Rock It Games)

Croc: The Legend Of Gobbos is getting a physical release for its remaster but it still doesn’t have an exact release date.

Back in August, British developer Argonaut revealed that PlayStation 1 favourite Croc: The Legend Of The Gobbos is making a comeback, as the developer is remastering the 1997 title.

Two months later and there’s still no exact release date, but Argonaut have said they’re aiming for a December 2024 launch.

As a result, Argoanut has just posted another trailer, and revealed that the remaster will have a physical release as well as a collector’s edition with a statue of Croc himself.

Croc: The Legend Of The Gobbos remaster will be available digitally on all formats but the physical editions are only being release for the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch with a standard and collector’s edition.

The physical editions are currently only available for pre-order at the Rock It Games store, where the standard edition, which comes with the game and a colour manual, costs $39.99 (£31).

The collector’s edition costs $129.99 (£100), which is roughly normal for such things, and comes with quite a lot of perks in addition to a copy of the game:

8″ resin Croc statue with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity

Four-disc CD soundtrack consisting of over 100 tracks

PVC Croc keychain

Ultra3DFX sticker sheet

18″ x 24″ artwork poster

Premium box

Colour manual

Along with the release of the new trailer, Jez San, founder of Argoanut, told Nintendo Life that Croc: The Legend Of The Gobbos is close to being finished:

‘From the outset, our vision has been to release Croc only when we’re happy with it. We are speed-running towards a December 2024 release and are very close to being complete.

‘However, if we need to add a little more polish, we won’t hesitate to do so. After waiting 27 years, we trust that our dedicated fans can wait a few weeks longer.’

Croc: The Legend Of Gobbos was initially pitched to Nintendo, back in the 90s, and was meant to feature Yoshi as the playable character. But after Nintendo rejected the idea, Argoanut created Croc and the rest is history.
