Just a few months after it was reportedly shelved, the BBC has ‘saved’ a chat show.

Earlier this year the popular series The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show was seemingly cancelled despite being promoted to primetime not long before.

Hosted by Chris Ramsey and wife Rosie, both 37, the show debuted on BBC Two in 2022 before it was then moved to BBC One due to its impressive ratings.

The format saw the married comedians invite other celebrity couples onto the show for candid gossip about life, relationships and the pressures of fame and family.

Some of their guests included include Katherine Ryan and her husband Bobby Kootstra, Ronan Keating and wife Storm, and Martin and Shirley Kemp.

Although there had been plans for a third season, they ended up falling through after the couple were unable to find the time to film.

But, three months on, it turns out the show may actually now return.

It’s been reported the show’s producers, Avalon, has begun working on a new season which is also expected to air next year.

‘The BBC love Chris and Rosie, they’re a hilarious duo but most importantly, real, so it was a blow when they couldn’t get a third series under way,’ a source said.

‘The show was shelved until schedules could align and work can now begin ahead of next year,’ they added when speaking to The Sun.

The couple first picked up fans with their podcast Sh**ged Married Annoyed, which debuted in 2019.

Its success saw the show being taken on Arena tours across the UK in 2021, and to the founding of their BBC chat show.

When the news of their show being shelved was announced in July, a source told The Sun: ‘The BBC absolutely love Chris and Rosie. They’re a hilariously entertaining duo, but most importantly, they’re real.

‘They want to continue producing The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show for audiences but due to schedule clashes, they can’t make it work right now.

‘While the show has been paused for now, behind-the-scenes BBC are continuing to look at ways the show can continue with Avalon.’

Away from their BBC series, the couple have each also competed on Strictly, with Chris appearing in the 2017 season and Rosie being a contestant on the 2022 Christmas Special.

They share two children together, Robin, 10 and Rafe, three.
