Having previously admitted that she and Simon Cowell were ‘never friends’, Sharon Osbourne has now shared her thoughts on daughter Kelly being pals with the music mogul.

Sharon, 72, and Simon, 65, go way back, having sat on The X Factor judging panel together between 2004 and 2007 before Sharon moved over to America’s Got Talent with Simon in 2012.

Despite working closely beside one another for years, however, Sharon recently insisted she and Simon weren’t exactly besties, claiming she ‘just worked for him’.

Simon is believed to have later unfollowed the star on Instagram, which came after she accused him in 2019 of dismissing her from judging duties for being ‘too old’.

Meanwhile, former co-star Louis Walsh has also made digs, attacking Simon’s dress sense and mocking his talent show judging style during a stint on Celebrity Big Brother 2024.

Now, Sharon has shared her thoughts on her eldest daughter striking up a friendship with Simon – and she’s taking the high ground.

Approached by TMZ while leaving Kelly’s 40th birthday party in Hollywood, Sharon was asked what she makes of Kelly’s recent interview comments in which she spoke about being on good terms with Simon, even if her mother isn’t.

‘Oh, that’s great!’, Sharon replied earnestly with her thoughts.

‘I’m happy that she does (have a friendship with Simon).’

‘Really,’ she added with a smile, nodding to the cameraman.

‘So, you don’t think she owes you any type of loyalty with that situation?’, asked the reporter.

‘God, no!’, Sharon exclaimed as she climbed into her waiting car.

‘Simon’s fine, Simon’s great,’ she insisted.

Sharon’s comments come after Kelly, whom she shares with husband Ozzy, told US Weekly how much she likes Simon.

On where she stands with the Pop Idol judge, Kelly explained: ‘I’d never want to disrespect Simon. I like Simon.

‘You know, Simon is set in his ways, and he has a way of doing things that works for him. Who am I to ever get in the middle of any of that?

‘And, you know, he had a working relationship with my mum.’

Kelly went on to acknowledge that Sharon and Simon ‘had their issues’ but she wants to ‘stay out of it unless it’s something that [she] felt was wrong’.

‘Like, there’s no lying or secrets. Like, he did my mum dirty a couple times. So, she got him back,’ she quipped.

Despite Sharon’s scathing remarks about Simon, the Syco founder himself has claimed there isn’t beef between them.

‘I still consider Sharon and Louis really good friends; we could pick up the phone to each other tomorrow,’ Simon told The Mirror in April this year.

‘I think that’s probably one of the things they’re upset about because they can never get hold of me.’

He added that the comments made against him were ‘quite funny’, admitting it had been a while since since they had spoken, so he was planning to call Sharon and Louis in the following weeks.

‘Whenever I meet them, see them, speak to them, it’s like we’ve spoken yesterday. My honest opinion is I think we miss each other,’ he shared.
