Sunday Brunch viewers have shared their concern for Bob Mortimer after claiming there was a ‘weird vibe’ in the studio.

The Channel 4 programme last weekend saw hosts Tom Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer joined by Binky Felstead, Mike Wozniak, Deborah Meaden and Orla Gartland, with Bob on to promote his new book.

Talking about his latest project, he said: ‘Why should Bob Mortimer be given a book to write unless it’s in Bob Mortimer’s voice?’

‘I’m the main character really, because I can’t see any other reason for me writing a book really,’ he quipped.

He elsewhere spoke about his love for TV and his current obsession with Married At First Sight, comparing his book The Hotel Avocado to reality TV and saying:’I like to think of my book a bit like that, I hope it’s accessible and truthful.’

However, fans were left distracted after claiming Bob, 65, looked ‘bored’ during other segments in the programme.

‘There’s a weird vibe in the room today. Everyone is on edge, nothing is settled, and there’s a burgeoning sense of irritated armageddon building. It’s perfect,’ @EvenFredsHappy1 wrote on X.

@MadKDog wrote: ‘Bob is looking as disinterested as me. Like I said a gem.’

‘Bob looks like he’d rather be at home,’ @Apuforu echoed, while @DebbieGForLife said: ‘Bob is looking very distracted in this segment!’

Concerned viewer Mark also said: ‘There seems to be something wrong with Bob. He doesn’t seem himself.’

‘I thought that aswell,’ Lee replied.

Others were focused on Bob instead of the other guests, with @Shanus71 writing: ‘Seriously, just let Bob do all the interviews and the rest can do the washing up.’

‘Protect Bob at all costs. A national treasure. River King. Penman extraordinaire,’ @cherryd0ugnuts wrote.

This comes after Bob opened up about his recent health struggles, and having to use a wheelchair while filming the latest season of Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.

Bob revealed he ‘wasn’t very well’ and had to be ‘looked after’ by his co-star Paul Whitehouse after he was left unable to walk due to a six-month battle with shingles in his muscles.

He said: ‘I wasn’t very well and it made it a bit of a struggle but, as always, Paul looked after me and pulled me through.’

The TV star went on to say that he was getting better, and trying to ‘grow muscle back’, having previously spoken of the infection, saying: ‘I got a bit unlucky with it, I lost the use of one of my legs but it’s coming back now, I’m a bit limpy but I’m very grateful to be back up and going.’

Last year, before suffering from shingles, Bob revealed he had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, having first had the condition in his 20s.

During an episode of Gone Fishing, he said: ‘It’s been a very, very, very unhealthy year for me Paul with my shingles… And you know what – it was worse than my heart period.

‘The muscles I’ve lost, I’ve lost… But other ones can compensate for it, you know what I mean?’

He added: ‘I can make the other muscles stronger but I have a terrible feeling I’m never going to be able to run again and you know that I used to like to run Paul.’

Sunday Brunch airs on Channel 4 at 9.30am.
