A Britain’s Got Talent star who wowed the judges and audience in 2022 but failed to make it to the live shows has proven she didn’t need the competition for her roaring success.

Skylar Blu was left speechless when Alesha Dixon invited her to the London Palladium for a surprise audition during the ITV programme’s 15th season, as a Golden Moment.

The young dancer was branded ‘incredible’ by Simon Cowell, who remarked on her ‘immaculate’ routine, while Amanda Holden said she was ‘bursting’ after watching the performance.

‘Please don’t forget us when you’re world famous,’ former judge David Walliams added.

However, despite the comments and four yeses, Skylar didn’t make it through to the live shows, but has proven she didn’t need to anyway.

The star, who was just seven when she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent, now features in Marks & Spencer’s festive ad.

The supermarket has already unveiled its food advert featuring Dawn French, but has now revealed Skylar in its clothing and home Christmas clip.

The 90-second advert follows Christmas ‘through a child’s eyes’, with Skylar dancing around the house as she brings her family together, with the Jackson Sisters’ I Believe In Miracles playing.

It begins with Skylar looking disheartened at the news there’d be no snow on the big day, before spotting a magical snow globe that changes everything.

Hundreds of baubles come cascading down the stairs in the hallway, and it suddenly appears as if she is in the snow globe, with the whole room turning upside down and her family defying gravity as they dance in unison across the walls.

The clip ends with her whole family, in their Christmas gear, having the time of their lives, with a message reading: ‘Christmas starts here.’

‘The festive season instils a sense of hope, wonder and joy and this year, we’re taking a playful approach by adding a little fantasy to our Christmas campaign.

‘We have long been known to deliver the magic and sparkle of Christmas for our customers and this season, through our campaign, we’re showcasing the very best of M&S, with exceptional quality, stylish clothing and innovative, thoughtful and playful gifts – all at a great value.’

Director Elliott Power said: ‘The excitement of kids at Christmas is infectious, it reminds us what it felt like and it takes us back – this is not just a fashion film but a festive flight of fancy through a child’s eyes, a visual spectacle with a playful tone, with beautiful elevated festive fashion integrated throughout.’

Choreographer Corey Baker added: ‘The choreography and movement leans into physical theatre – think unconventional positions in conventional spaces. We wanted to create something that feels familiar but dreamy and playful – a fantastical spectacle, that gives you that heart-warming Christmas Cheer feeling.’
