Phillip Schofield said his final goodbyes to his beloved mother this weekend as Pat’s funeral took place at St. Michael’s Church in Newquay, Cornwall.

The former This Morning presenter announced his mother’s death at the age of 88 on October 14, writing in a statement at the time that her final moments were ‘calm peaceful, beautiful and dignified.’

On Friday, Schofield was joined by close friends and family for the funeral and had the full support of his wife, Stephanie Lowe, and their two daughters, Ruby and Molly.

The 62-year-old looked devastated as he carried his mother’s casket, which was carefully adorned with a display of white roses.

It’s believed mourners in attendance at 3pm were encouraged to ‘dress brightly to reflect a life filled with love’.

As the former daytime star brought his mother into the church, Lowe, whom he married in 1993, took care of Schofield’s dog, who accompanied the family to the service.

During the ceremony, there was a touching musical tribute from the Cornish Kernow Men’s Choir.

Framed photographs of Pat were also displayed through the church as her relatives and close friends paid their respects.

Pat’s wicker casket was later placed inside a hearse by pallbearers.

After the service, Schofield was seen chatting with fellow mourners outside.

To mark the sombre occasion, ex-Dancing On Ice host Schofield wore a pastel-coloured shirt, navy jacket, and dark trousers.

His wife also opted for blue, wearing a jumper and a skirt, complemented by black boots.

Seen outside the church, grown-up daughters Molly and Ruby wrapped up from the November chill in black coats.

Noticeably absent was Schofield’s brother, Timothy, 54, who is currently spending 12 years in prison for sexually abusing a teenage boy.

Announcing the loss of his mother just weeks ago, Schofield penned a powerful tribute, which he shared on Instagram.

‘Today, at 3pm and after a heartbreaking weekend, my magnificent mum decided it was time to go to her beloved Brian,’ he began.

‘Over three days, we held her, loved her, hugged her, and said everything that needed to be said.

‘She was calm, peaceful, beautiful and dignified.

‘I will forever be proud and privileged that she was my mum.

‘Our eternal thanks to the paramedics, Treliske A&E and Critical Care team who have been, in the past and this weekend, my mum’s and our angels. Your love and care has been our saviour.’

‘I love you mum, forever,’ he signed off.

Schofield’s dad, Brian, died in 2008 at the age of 72 from a long-standing heart condition. The ex-ITV star has frequently spoken about the close bond he shared with him.

Opening up on the This Morning sofa about his father’s death, Schofield previously reflected: ‘My dad died in 2008, he’d been poorly for a long time. We knew it was going to happen, but when it finally did happen we heard from the hospital.’

On his time of death, he added: ‘It is this extraordinary physical thing that a person who is near the end of their life who without even knowing maybe, waits until family have left the room and then they go quietly on their own.’

Schofield also spoke about his memories of his late father in his recent TV comeback, Cast Away on Channel 5.

The three-parter saw him discuss departing ITV in May 2023 after admitting to lying about a secret affair with a younger male colleague.

In the show, Schofield spent 10 days alone on a small island off the coast of Madagascar in his first return to a TV series since leaving the broadcaster.

Following his exit from ITV last year, Schofield stayed with his mother at her Cornwall home as he kept a low profile and avoided media attention.
