There’s one piano note that calls to pop-punk fans like no other; the haunting ‘G’ at the start of My Chemical Romance’s Welcome To The Black Parade.

Emos everywhere were beside themselves as the beloved band announced they are heading on tour next year in honour of that utterly iconic album’s anniversary.

The Long Live The Black Parade tour will see MCR play their highly influential 2006 rock opera in full nearly two decades after it was released.

MCR, consisting of Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Frank Iero, and Ray Toro, announced stops across North America, starting in July next year.

However, fans across the pond are devastated as there currently appear to be no plans for a UK or European leg of the tour.

Long Live The Black Parade is billed as a ‘North American Stadium Tour’ with dates in the likes of Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Tampa.

They announced the 2025 tour with a short video on their Instagram, with the cryptic caption: ‘It has been seventeen years since The Black Parade was sent to the MOAT. In that time, a great Dictator has risen to power, bringing about “THE CONCRETE AGE”; a glorious time of stability and abundance in the history of DRAAG.

‘His Grand Immortal Dictator wishes to celebrate our rich and storied culture, fine foods, and musical entertainments by welcoming you to these great demonstrations of power and resolve. And lending voice and song for the first time in six thousand two hundred and forty six days, their work privilege ceremoniously reinstated, will be His Grand Immortal Dictator’s National Band… The Black Parade.

‘Long Live Draag’

Each show has a different opening act spanning multiple genres from Idles and Wallows to Alice Cooper, Garbage and the legendary Evanescence.

Along with comments from US fans who were (understandably) excited, plenty of European emos were asking for more dates.

‘Idk if I’m devastated because it’s only a north american tour and I’m european or if I’m excited because more mcr content is coming soon……,’ said Basil on X.

‘EUROPE TOUR, GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT🖤🖤,’ wrote Evie in the Instagram comments, as Freya Gander asked: ‘WORLD TOUR?! WE NEED THEM IN NZ AGAIN.’

Natty begged: ‘PLEASE UK PLEASE COME. PLEASE TELL ME THERES GONNA BE A EUROPEAN TOUR. PLEASE GOD PLEASE.’

‘Bbgs what if u just like take a small trip to Europe,😻,’ added Echo.

MCR last planned to tour in 2020, having reunited the year before, but much of this reunion was postponed until 2022 due to Covid.

This did include multiple UK dates as well as a European leg, so there is hope that this Black Parade tribute could do the same.

The Black Parade is considered one of the greatest rock albums of the 00s, with the group citing Queen and Pink Floyd as huge influences.

Along with the titular track, which secured the group their first number one, other popular songs include Teenagers, Famous Last Words, and The Sharpest Lives.

MCR recently headlined at the When We Were Young festival in the US, alongside fellow pop-punk icons Fall Out Boy.

During this Las Vegas show, MCR performed The Black Parade in full to the surprise of fans.

This show garnered huge attention with fans begging for the duo to tour together, especially as FOB’s Bang of the Doldrums is rumoured to be about Gerard.

Tickets for the Long Live The Black Parade US tour go on sale on Friday, November 15, at 10am local time.
