American Idol star Triston Reed has revealed he has hit several milestones this year at the tender age of 16.

The singer, who was eliminated from the competition show before the semi-finals in May, announced he has married girlfriend Paris Reed who is expecting their first child.

On Triston’s official Facebook page, he updated his relationship status to married to Paris on November 6 and wrote in the caption addressing his fans: ‘I’ve got big news Harpies.’

He then later reshared a picture of himself grinning from ear to ear holding a positive pregnancy test alongside Paris originally posted on his mother Hattie Sullivan’s account.

She wrote: ‘Now Everybody has congratulated me on Triston and Paris getting married but to me that is old news but now I’m bout to be a “G Ma”.’

Triston has previously shared a special shout-out dedicated to Paris on National Girlfriend Day on August 1.

He said on Facebook: ‘I love you so much Paris Reed. There may be a 1 in a million kind of girl, but your my 1 in a lifetime time kind of woman. I love you 25.’

Triston, a high school student from McIntosh, Alabama, was eliminated from American Idol after a two-hour Disney Night special, along with Emmy Russell.

Judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan looked stunned when the pair were sent home after the audience vote was revealed.

Triston had performed Almost There from The Princess And The Frog and was told by Lionel that he had ‘killed it.’

For his second song, Triston belted out Life Is A Highway song from Cars after he spent the day at Disneyland with his mother Hattie Mae.

‘I think that was one of your best performances so far,’ Katy said after his version.

Abi Morgan was eventually crowned winner of the 22nd season of American Idol with Will Moseley in second place.

Since leaving American Idol, Triston has continued his music career and released his debut single HOPE to streaming platforms in May.

He has also performed several gigs in the US.

Triston previously told AL.com that he made music to connect with people going through difficult times.

‘I just want folks to know that it don’t matter how hard it gets and no matter how many problems you have don’t never give up,’ he said.

‘There’s always that door out of whatever you’re going through.’
