A former TV star who appeared in the 90s gameshow Fun House has revealed she’s had a massive career change and is now pulling pints at a pub.
Airing on ITV from 1989 to 1999, the children’s TV series saw schoolchildren from around the UK compete in challenges in a soft playhouse which unfolded in three rounds – Messy Games, The Fun Kart Grand Prix and The Fun House, itself.
It was hosted by radio DJ Pat Sharp, who was assisted by twin cheerleaders Melanie and Martina Grant.
The sisters first appeared on screen together in a 1987 episode of BBC cop show Rockliffe’s Babies, simply being credited as ‘Girl in flat’.
However, it was the following year the then 16-year-olds joined Fun House, a role they would hold for the next 10 years.
After the show ended, they stepped out of the spotlight.

It’s now been 25 years since Fun House wrapped up, with Melanie now working behind the bar in a Wetherspoons.
The 51-year-old is team leader at the Royal Victoria Pavilion pub – the biggest Spoons in the UK – in Ramsgate, Kent.
‘I love working at the pub,’ she said.
‘It’s perfect for me as I grew up around here and I’m a real people person and always love a chat with the customers here.
‘A lot of customers know me and recognise me from the show, and we have a lot of laughs and memories about it.’

When applying for the job, Melanie’s boss admitted he was a big fan of her show, with customers also regularly recognising her.
Before Wetherspoons bought the pub – which opened in 2017 – it was a nightclub, which Melanie attended more than a few times.
‘I used to come here in those days, so I have a great connection with the building,’ she added when speaking to Jam Press.
Over the past few years, the twins have appeared on TV a few times to reunite with Pat, who has since ditched his iconic mullet.
Two weeks ago, Martina also shared a series of photos of them together over the years to mark Pat’s birthday.
‘Happy birthday to our best friend pat! Have the best day celebrating, Love your twins,’ they wrote.

In an interview with The Guardian in 2017, Martina explained how they were cast on the show.
‘Melanie and I applied for Fun House when we were about 15, after spotting an ad in the Stage looking for “crazy twins”. We were travelling around the UK in my mum and dad’s motor home at the time and ended up driving up to Scotland so we could get dropped off at the audition in our Winnebago,’ she recalled.
‘All our friends were saying, “I don’t know what to do when I leave school, I want to get married” and all that rubbish. We were like: “We’re going to do Fun House!” It was very surreal.’
She went on to say the show had stuck in people’s minds decades later and was ‘one of those retro things that nobody’s forgotten’.
