‘Stressful’ crime drama with perfect fan score on Rotten Tomatoes lands on Netflix-Rishma Dosani-Entertainment – Metro

Netflix fans have got a new drama to obsess over after Temple landed on the streaming platform, boasting a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score.

The hit Sky series, a remake of Norwegian program Valkyrien, first hit our screens in 2019 and ran for two seasons, with Mark Strong leading the cast beside Daniel Mays, Carice van Houten and Catherine McCormack.

The gripping show follows surgeon Daniel Milton (Mark) as he uses the elaborate London Underground tunnels to set up an illegal clinic, to treat desperate patients – including his wife, Beth (Catherine).

However, the secrecy of his ‘hospital’ is threatened after a series of events, meaning he faces a race to save her life.

Despite ending three years ago, it has been granted a new lease of life after premiering on Netflix, and viewers have rushed to social media to rave about the tense scenes.

Pamelaxt_ tweeted: ‘Temple on Netflix. OMG I’m hooked. I always do this to myself before bedtime.’

‘Temple on Netflix is so good but I’m so stressed,’ Lauren agreed.

As RoseXrp said: ‘I highly recommend Temple on @NetflixUK with one of my fav actors Mark Strong.’

Temple has also impressed many on Rotten Tomatoes as it currently has a perfect audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to a critics ranking of 75%.

Euan Ferguson from the Observer commended: ‘It’s loopy enough, admittedly, as an entire premise… but if you can just, pretty please, suspend your disbelief for long enough to get your talons into it, it’s hugely rewarding.’

The Evening Standard’s Alastair McKay praised: ‘[Temple] feels, at times, like early Tarantino, with dodgy coppers and incompetent criminals, as [Mark] Strong holds the thing together with his glower.’

‘Temple is a clever little piece of programming,’ Camilla Long from the Times added.

Mark has become a staple of our screens over the last few years, landing scene-stealing roles in RocknRolla, Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Shazam!, and is currently appearing in both The Penguin and Dune: Prophecy on HBO.

Aside from that, he has appeared in Cruella, Tár, 1917 and the Critic, and has many more projects on the way.

He previously unpacked his role as surgeon Daniel in a chat with Collider, and explained that it was the closest character to himself that he has ever played.

‘I’ve always tried to choose characters that are as far removed from me as possible,’ he told the outlet.

‘For me, acting and performing was always about finding characters that I could have a different voice for, or that I could wear an interesting piece of costume for, or that I could wear a wig for, or something that would take me away from myself.

He shared how close he feels to the character (Picture: Rex)

‘I always felt, ever since I started out at drama school, that was the interesting thing about playing characters. Daniel is as close to me as I’ve ever been, really. He looks like me. He lives in London. He has a comfortable life.

‘I imagine that, if I were him, I would hopefully behave better, but he’s certainly closer to me than most of the characters I’ve ever played.’

Fingers crossed the renewed success leads to a third season…

Temple is available to stream on Netflix now.
