Whoopi Goldberg’s net worth has been revealed after the Hollywood star likened her finanicial situation to millions of working class Americans.

The Oscar winner, 69, raised a few eyebrows when she stated on The View she was having a ‘hard time’ with cash flow.

She even admitted she would quit work if she could but did not have the financial means as she needs to provide for her family.

The Sister Act actor is mother to Alexandrea Martin, 50, who has three children daughters Amara and Jerzey and son Mason, and grandmother to Charli Rose Burr-Reynaud, 10.

However, despite her insistence on her need to hustle, Whoopi has an estimated net worth of $30,000,000 (£23,690,000) according to Celebrity Net Worth.

In 1993, Whoopi even was briefly the highest-paid actress in the wold after she negotiated a fee between $7million to $12million (£5.5million – £9.4million) for Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.

It’s unclear what Whoopi’s salay is for The View; however it’s likely to be in the seven-figure range as Variety reported in 2016 she was earning between $5m – $6m (£3.9m – £4.7m) per year after renewing her contract.

On Tuesday’s The View, Whoopi said: ‘I appreciate that people are having a hard time, me, too — I work for a living.

‘If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, OK? So, I’m a working person, you know?’

‘My kid has to feed her family. My great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family. I know it’s hard out there.’

Whoopi is not the only celebrity to have made questionable comments about their bank balance.

In 2022, Hollywood darling Sydney Sweeney revealed she would not have ‘the income to cover’ a six-month break.

‘I don’t have someone supporting me, I don’t have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help,’ she added to The Hollywood reporter.

While she has worked solidly on premium network HBO, Sydney claimed her financial precariousness is because actors are not paid ‘like they used to’.

The Euphoria star explained: ‘And with streamers, you no longer get residuals. The established stars still get paid, but I have to give 5 percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, 3 percent or something like that to my business manager.

‘I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.’

Earlier this year, Whoopi joined other luminaries, including the likes of Jimmy Fallon and Chris Rock, for an audience with Pope Francis in Rome.

The group were invited to meet with the Pope as a way of ‘establishing a link’ between the stars and the Church.

After the exclusive event, Whoopi touched on whether she had gathered the Pope’s thoughts on a possible role in the upcoming Sister Act 3, after previously offering him a role.

‘It was great,’ she told reporters. ‘I didn’t think it was the right place to bring it up, but I’ll probably send an email.’
