Sex Education star Alexander Westwood’s trial has started after he was charged with sex crimes against children and women.

The actor, 24, who played a student in the Netflix show and has also appeared in Doctors, has been accused of 26 counts of sexual abuse, including four counts of rape of a woman over 16.

Westwood, who gave acting classes, is also accused of forcing budding actresses to recite Shakespeare and engage in role play naked.

Westwood denies all the charges.

Earlier this week, Westwood, from Albrighton, east Shropshire, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court after being charged last year, according to the Express and Star.

Prosecutor Andrew Wallace told the jury: ‘Alexander Westwood is an actor. He is a supreme manipulator.

‘All these charges have a common theme, of inappropriate touching and predatory behaviour.

‘The ten indictments concerning a girl, the first charge is on the date of his tenth birthday, that is the date because there is not criminality before this age.’

Wallace said that if they were to ‘list every instance’ of the alleged abuse Westwood inflicted on the girl ‘there would be hundreds of charges.’

Westwood is accused of using his showbiz career to manipulate his students.

One accused him of ‘sexual deviancy and controlling behaviour’ and told her mother she ‘should be admitted to a psychiatric hospital because she is going off the rails.’

Wallace added: ‘Then when giving acting lessons, he again used this as an opportunity to touch his pupils inappropriately. 

‘These are schoolgirls we are talking about, teenagers. Imagine asking Dame Judi Dench to recite Hamlet naked, she would tell you where to go.’

Westwood’s charges include three counts of causing a female 13 or over to engage in a non-penetrative sexual activity, one count of inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity, seven counts of sexual assault on a female and three counts of causing a child under 13 to watch a sexual act, the Daily Mail reported.

He is also accused of three counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching, two counts of inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity involving penetration and three counts of assaulting a female 13 and over by penetration

Westwood’s other credits include action film Outlawed, thriller Angel City and short Leaper.

The trial is expected to last a month.
