Kaleb Cooper has revealed he narrowly avoided a terrifying encounter with a tarantula after one escaped in his home.

The Clarkson’s Farm star, 26, grew up in Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, where he began work as a farm hand as a teenager before later being employed on Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm.

Although Kaleb doesn’t come face-to-face with many dangerous animals in his line of work, he did once risk ‘being blinded’ by a ‘poisonous fur-flinging’ arachnid.

Writing in his new book, It’s A Farming Thing, Kaleb explained how he once woke from a nightmare in which he dreamed one of the predators was roaming around his home.

Recounting the unsettling dream to his mother, he was shocked to find out the reality of the situation – his mum’s pet Chilean rose tarantula – which can blind a person by throwing fur into their eyes, had gone missing.

‘I had a funny dream last night, that you told me the tarantula had escaped,’ he recalled telling his mum.

‘”No, Kaleb, it has; I can’t find it anywhere”,’ she told him.

After rushing to the living room to hide on the sofa, it turns out his choice of safe spot wasn’t quite that smart, with the spider eventually found underneath the settee.

‘I’ve already survived a poisonous fur-flinging tarantula and a man-eating reptile with coils or death…’ he added.

This wasn’t the last of Kaleb’s scary animal encounters, also revealing he was once whacked in a sensitive spot by a naughty goose.

‘I’ve never forgiven the goose that attacked my, um, delicate parts and almost ended my family line,’ he said.

Earlier this month Clarkson’s Farm fans were delighted to be told the beloved series was returning for a fifth season.

Jeremy shared the news on Bonfire Night, saying: ‘Clarkson’s Farm S5 is officially in production.’

Fans were ecstatic, with one calling it ‘the best news I’ve heard all year’.

Clarkson’s Farm is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
