Jeremy Clarkson is set to join thousands of farmers heading to Westminster to protest against a government decision, despite being warned against it by medical professionals.
The Diddly Squat farm owner will be opposing the farming inheritance tax, which was introduced in last month’s Budget by Chancellor Rachel Reeves. This will see a tax of 20% raised on agricultural assets above £1 million.
Farming unions and opposition critics have demanded the Government reverse the move dubbed ‘tractor tax’, which they argue will hamper food production and harm smaller farms. They are preparing to shut down central London with the demonstration against Labour’s changes to tax rules.
A defiant Jeremy, 64, who feels passionate about the issue is set to join the protest despite recently undergoing life-saving heart surgery.
The former Top Gear presenter was ordered not to go on the march by his doctors, but will be heading to the political event with Clarkson’s Farm co-stars including Kaleb Cooper.
‘I will be there, despite having letters from doctors telling me not to go on the march and saying I must avoid stress,’ he told The Sun.

‘We have got two coaches of farmers from around here who are leaving from Diddly Squat. It is a hugely important issue.’
He has said the tax could ‘be the last straw for farmers who are already struggling to cope’. Jeremy also called the Budget ‘hopeless’ and claimed farmers have been ‘shafted’.
From April 2026, family farms that had previously been passed on to the next generation tax-free will be subject to 20% inheritance tax – half of the normal 40% rate.

After experiencing a ‘sudden deterioration’ in his health, Jeremy was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
After suffering from worrying symptoms including being ‘clammy’, with a ‘tightness in my chest’, and ‘pins and needles in my left arm’, he had a stent fitted after doctors discovered that one of his arteries was ‘completely blocked’.
Writing about his ‘extremely urgent surgery’, Jeremy said he wasn’t scared at the time but was now after being told how he ‘must live my life from now on’.
‘Literally, I am not allowed to have fun any more. This is terrifying,’ he wrote in his column.

Jeremy has become a voice for farmers after his Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm took off in 2021, showing the trials and tribulations at his Cotswolds farm.
However, some people have called Jeremy ‘hypocritical’ from 2013, in which he admitted to buying a farm for the inheritance tax loophole.
Clarkson’s Farm is available to watch on Prime Video.
