WWE legend Rey Mysterio devastated by family death as wrestlers pay respects-Alistair McGeorge-Entertainment – Metro

Rey Mysterio has paid an emotional tribute to his father Robert Gutierrez after his death aged 76.
The WWE Hall of Famer, who appeared on last night’s episode of Raw in a match filmed last week,shared the news as he revealed his late dad ‘fought until the very last minute’.
Alongside a carousel of photographs, the masked wrestling icon wrote: ‘Father: thank you for giving me the life I have.
‘You did more than set the example of how to love & maintain a strong marriage and father 4 boys, you were the example and passed every single time until your death with flying colors.
‘Excellent husband, loving father, beautiful grandfather, incredible son & brother, and amazing father in law.
‘You checked every list on the box and can honestly say my majority trates I picked up from you.

‘You fought until the very last minute and know that you biggest fear was leaving Moms behind, but I can assure you that she will not be alone and we will always look out for her. (sic)’
He added that his father will ‘never be forgotten’.
‘You are with God now and smiling from the heavens while we continue with the real struggle of life until we see again,’ he continued. You will never be forgotten and will always be loved, RIP Pops✝️ Love You Always🙏🏼🖤🙏🏼’

His fellow WWE superstars flooded the comments with tributes and messages of support, with CM Punk among them as he simply posted a red heart.
‘💚🙏🏻💚 sending all the love you and your family,’ added Braun Strowman, while WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax replied: ‘🙏🏽❤️ sending you and the fam love.’
‘I’m sending so much love your way, Rey. I’m so sorry for your immeasurable loss. A beautiful tribute. Prayers to you and your family during this time ❤️,’ wrote Natalya.

Mercedes Mone, best known to WWE fans as Sasha Banks, also responded as she commented: ‘Sending you all my love.’
And Rey’s fellow Hall of Famer Lita added: ‘What a beautiful tribute- thinking of you and your family during this time. What a legacy he leaves behind ❤️’
Rey’s son Dominik, who is also a wrestler on Raw, is yet to addressed the tragic news, which comes just days after the 19th anniversary of Eddie Guerrero’s death in 2005.
