Two days before she had her brain tumour removed, Davina McCall revealed what her final words would be before being put to sleep for the operation.

The former Big Brother presenter, 57, shocked followers on Friday when she released a video explaining that a random health check had found a benign brain tumour, and she was getting it removed via a craniotomy.

Hours later, her partner Michael Douglas posted a statement on her behalf, which said the surgery went well, and she was recovering in ICU as a ‘precaution’.

Yesterday, Michael shared the good news that she was out of ICU following the short stay.

In the latest episode of Making The Cut podcast – which was recorded two days before her surgery – Davina revealed what her final words would be before she was put under anaesthetic.

‘Do you know what I’m going to do?’ she began on the episode, recorded with Michael.

‘As they’re putting me under – which is such a nice feeling by the way – I’m going to set an intention. I’m going to say: “Love, love, love, all the way.”‘

Announcing the news on Friday morning, Davina said she consulted with several neurosurgeons and after ‘lots of opinions’ decided to have the benign tumour removed because it is ‘big for the space’ in her brain and ‘if it grows it will be bad’.

In the video alongside Michael, the Masked Singer judge explained: ‘Hi so I’m posting this, it will be Friday morning and I’m doing it because a few months ago, I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a health scan in return which I thought I was going to ace.

‘But, it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst which is very rare, three in a million.

‘I put my head in the sand for a while, I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions, and I realised that I have to get it taken out. It’s big for the space, it fills the space. It’s 14mm wide, and it needs to come out because if it grows it will be bad.

‘So I’m having it removed via a craniotomy through the top of my head here, and through the two halves of my brain, to the middle, get the cyst, empty it, take it out, “Bob’s your uncle.”

‘So say a prayer for me. I am in good spirits.’

Speaking about her recovery, Davina continued: ‘I’m going to be in hospital for about nine days, and then I’m going to be going home but I am going to be off my phone for a while.

‘So Michael might fill you in and let you guys know how I’m doing. But I don’t want you to worry about me. I’m doing that enough as it is.

‘I’m not worrying too much I am in a good space. I have all the faith in the world in my surgeon and his team and I’m handing the reins over to him, he knows what he’s doing, I’m going to do the getting better bit after. I’ll see you on the other side.’

Colloid cysts are benign, meaning they are non-cancerous, small fluid-filled sacs located in or around the lateral and third ventricle of the brain, according to the London Neurosurgery Partnership.

Promising he would keep fans updated, Michael took to social media yesterday and wrote: ‘Update folks. Thanks so much to all the well wishers. ❤️❤️❤️

‘She really has made an enormous leap forward in the last 24 hours. She is out of ICU. She is “loving awareness” ❤️🌈🪐🌎💥💕 Thank you xx.’

In the post he added that there had been ‘mega progress’ in the last 24 hours and it was a ‘massive relief to see some light breaking through’.

He thanked everyone again for their messages, which Davina’s social media has been flooded with since her announcement.

Those sending well-wishes include Holly Willoughby, Rylan Clark, Carol Vorderman, Laura Whitmore and Dragons’ Den star Steven Bartlett.
