I’m A Celebrity star Danny Jones has opened up about one of his most severe panic attacks that left him wanting to vomit on This Morning.

The McFly star, 38, told his fellow campmates on tonight’s ITV show he had been in therapy since the age of 19 to treat anxiety.

He recalled that he once suffered a panic attack on a TV show while being interviewed and detailed his distress.

The All About You singer explained: ‘I was freaking out and I couldn’t answer the question that got asked to me.;

He said he panicked when he noticed the camera on him and then went white and felt like he was going to puke. Danny also said his heartrate went ‘crazy.’

When Jane Moore asked Danny whether he thought he developed anxiety in his childhood or if it was a product of being in a band, he answered: ‘I think I escaped a lot.’

Visibly emotional, he put his head in his hands and was comforted by Tulisa, who said: ‘It’s really good to let it out and it’s really brave to be vulnerable, people respect it.’

Danny previously opened up about suffering anxiety and said he felt like he was ‘dying’ at times during a severe bout.

He told The Belfast Telegraph in 2019: ‘I experienced claustrophobia, coming out in cold sweats, feeling a band tightening around my chest and worrying I was having a heart attack. IIt’s so scary and I’ve felt like I was dying on occasions. You can’t believe your body can do that to you.

‘I was also plagued with dark thoughts I couldn’t control. It was affecting my whole life – my work, health and sleep. I was determined to bury it and say goodbye to it. Admitting to having anxiety was the first big step and bit by bit, I put myself back together.

How to know if you’re having a panic attack

Sometimes, it can be difficult to tell if you – or someone else – is having a panic attack.
However, there are some symptoms you can look out for.
These include:
Disorientation
A racing heartbeat
Feeling faint, dizzy or lightheaded.
Feeling that you’re losing control
Sweating, trembling or shaking
Shortness of breath or breathing very quickly
A tingling in your fingers or lips
Feeling sick (nausea)

‘Instead of taking medication, I wanted to train my brain to manage it, so I read books, saw therapists, used breathing techniques, and listened to inspiring podcasts. I also improved my diet and fitness. I feel so much better in my mind after I’ve been active.’

Danny told the publication he hadn’t experienced a panic attack since 2013.

Since entering the jungle on Sunday, Danny has made quite the impression– particularly after tackling the series’ first challenge.

As he joined boxing legend Barry McGuigan in the Mausoleum of Misery, the duo were tasked with making their way through locked chambers in which they had to find the codes to unlock five padlocks – with five stars up for grabs.

This being I’m A Celebrity, of course, Danny and Barry weren’t alone in the mausoleum as they were joined by several snakes slithering between them.

Danny got very acquainted with the reptiles, as one cheeky snake slithered into his shorts during the challenge

‘I’ve got a snake up my shorts!’ Danny yelled, with host Declan Donnelly remarking:’That is what’s known here as a trouser snake’.

An animal handler came in to assist Danny as he pulled down his shorts to reveal the large reptile nestled in there.

The Obviously hitmaker is a favourite to win this year’s show, topping bookies’ odds and also convincing former Pointless host Richard Osman.

I’m A Celebrity continues on ITV and ITVX at 9pm tomorrow.
