The Chase fans were livid after watching one of the latest episodes of the quiz show, calling it a ‘disaster’.
Everyone who watches the ITV series knows the drill – each instalment begins with a team of four going up individually against a quiz master, known as the Chaser, in the hope of adding large amounts of money to the prize pot.
Then in the final stage of the competition, whichever contestants are left standing go head to head with the chosen Chaser once again in a final chase, to determine whether or not they’re going to go home with any money.
In a new episode, teammates Alan, Emma, Alexander and Caroline competed against the Chaser Darragh Ennis, aka The Menace, as host Bradley Walsh oversaw the proceedings.
In an unusual turn of events, each of the players were booted out of the running one by one… until not a single one of them were left standing.
In these rare circumstances, rather than cut the episode short, the team were allowed to return and to nominate one player to do the final Chase on their behalf, with the chance to win £4,000, which would mean each of them leaving with £1,000.

Alexander, the youngest of the team at 18, was put forward as their representative – but sadly, Darragh defeated him at the final hurdle.
This meant that all of them left the show with absolutely zero winnings.
Viewers were furious by how poorly the contestants performed, saying that it was ‘embarrassing’ to watch.
‘Without a doubt THE worst episode of The Chase ever. Shame on the others for putting an 18 year old up at the end. Embarrassing,’ @kennylanglea wrote on X.
A fan called @mr_chambers_ suggested that the episode should have been left ‘in the cutting room bin’, while @SenorApple2014 remarked after tuning in: ‘Thank the holy heavens it’s finally over.’

@StageandSport quipped that in their opinion, the Chasers had ‘easy questions’ – even though in the final Chase, the players who are left have a choice between two sets of questions, and the one they don’t pick goes to the quizmaster that they’re competing against.
‘That was the worst episode of The Chase in history!’ @TgmFin commented on X, adding that they found the episode a ‘disaster’.
@lozzzzzza1 savagely wrote: ‘This is absolutely painful viewing, can’t believe I’m saying this but it may be time to switch back to Pointless.’
Another viewer called @DrSlicer shared their opinion that the spin-off series Beat The Chasers is a lot more ‘exciting’ than The Chase, as the former sees contestants go up against more than one Chaser at once, and they have the chance to win more money.
‘The dirty secret of #thechase is that when the contestants (and by extension, the team) aren’t great it isn’t anywhere near as much fun to watch. Dismal so far this week,’ @toneboy added.
The Chase is available to watch on ITVX.
