Oasis fans livid after ‘massive announcement’ is actually almighty disappointment-Kitty Chrisp-Entertainment – Metro

Oasis fans’ ears were pricked this morning at 6.30am, as it was said there would be a massive announcement on the radio – but they were quickly left absolutely fuming.

On Friday Radio X presenter Dan O’Connell said there was a ‘massive’ announcement relating to the Gallagher brothers coming on the Chris Moyles show on Monday, leaving lots of Oasis fans waiting with bated breath and speculating wildly about what this could be.

However, Monday morning came and many were left feeling nothing but underwhelm, with one fan saying the last time they were this disappointed was when they got an Alan Shearer figurine in a packet of sugar puffs and his legs fell off. Ouch.

On Friday Dan got fans hyped when he teased: ‘I’ve got a little message from very important people at RadioX. They told me to make sure I mention on Monday morning Chris Moyles has something big for Oasis fans.

‘If that’s you, if you like Oasis, there’s something massive happening on Chris Moyles’ show on Monday morning from 6.30.’

As the radio tease was clipped, posted on social media and gained traction, fans hungrily speculated on what the announcement could be.

Ouch

Many thought the news could be another album – which would be Liam and Noel Gallagher’s first together in 16 years since Dig Out Your Soul – ahead of their huge 2025 tour.

‘Oasis for Christmas number 1!’ commented @youngwt on X, while @DJ_JASONCURRIE said: ‘New album I hope.’

‘Confirmation of new album,’ predicted @essceeeff alongside @heartz4oasis, who added: ‘NEW ALBUM!?!??!??!?’

@danlennie1 speculated: ‘Festival headline announcement.’

Rock fan page @historyrock_even posted to their 300,000 followers: ‘Oasis are set to release some big news next Monday. Rumor has it that it could be the announcement of a new album.’

However, come Monday RadioX posted the ‘massive’ news on X – and fans were furious.

‘BIBLICAL,’ they began – though fans would beg to differ, as the station continued: ‘We’re giving one lucky winner the chance to win a pair of Oasis tickets for Wembley Stadium on Wednesday 30th July.

‘Tune into The @ChrisMoyles Show tomorrow morning from 6:30am to find out how you could be in with the chance of winning.’

What fans thought was a huge new music announcement actually turned out to be a ticket giveaway. Damn.

@KnibbBen4490 responded: ‘The big oasis announcement was Chris Moyles giving away two tickets at 6.30 in the morning.

‘Haven’t been this disappointed since I got an Alan shearer figurine in a packet of sugar puffs, picked him up and his legs fell off.’

Even Liam Gallagher commented on a fan’s reaction which asked, ‘How is that “massive”,’ with the rocker saying: ‘Exactly.’

Some fans thought the ‘massive announcement’ tease from RadioX was new music (Picture: Marco Prosch/Getty Images)

‘Wow, talk about the most underwhelming announcement you could possibly make,’ said @lyla95.

‘So glad I didn’t bother tuning in for this,’ said @Gemz33Official, while @LeahyMadeleine fumed: ‘The worst announcement. Such an absolute waste of it!!!!’

‘This might be one of the biggest let downs ever,’ wrote @watkinsgoat while a bleary-eyed @Wardy843 added: ‘Imagine getting up at 6.30am just for that.’

‘Gonna redefine the word MASSIVE,’ quipped @6216Katherina, as @mrblurchanter said: ‘Building it up as if they’re releasing an album……hilarious.’

@jamienev22 echoed many fans when he simply asked: ‘Is that it?’

This was a particularly sore announcement, after Oasis’ ticketing chaos – which included the controversial use of dynamic pricing – left the first round of ticket hopefuls facing extortionate costs for a seat at one of their 17 dates after long queues.

But it turned out to be a… drum roll… ticket giveaway (Picture: Dave Hogan/Getty Images)

Others were convinced the album news could be a real possibility, as Liam previously said the recording of the next Oasis album would start this month.

@GloryDoge asked in April: ‘So when does the recording of the next Oasis album start? I’m assuming that’s why Noel scrapped his acoustic album for a rock n roll album.’

Liam – whose X activity needs to be taken with a heavy pinch of salt – replied: ‘November.’

Earlier this month the ever-unreliable Liam also posted on his X that a ‘massive announcement’ was ‘incoming’.

But rather than give fans what they want, he continued: ‘IM THE F**KING BOLLOX CMON.’

Referencing this, Liam also commented on reactions from furious fans about the non-announcement this morning, saying: ‘Not a patch on mine last wk.’

Thanks for your input, Liam.
