With a dedicated Metroid Prime art book releasing next year, rumours of a Metroid Prime 2 remaster have returned.
It’s been over a year since Metroid Prime Remastered shadow-dropped onto Nintendo Switch. Yet despite reputable claims its two sequels would follow suit, Nintendo hasn’t said anything about either of them.
It would make sense for Nintendo to have the whole Metroid Prime trilogy out before Metroid Prime 4, so fans new and old could catch up on the story, but that window’s only getting smaller now we know the long-awaited fourth entry is out in 2025.
Knowing Nintendo, it could just announce and release both games on a random Thursday or something, but a new rumour making the rounds claims to know when Metroid Prime 2’s remaster will drop.
This rumour comes courtesy of self-proclaimed insider Samus Hunter. While they never used to be reliable, their track record has greatly improved of late, having predicted reveals for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition and Super Nintendo World’s Donkey Kong Country expansion.
Samus Hunter is claiming that the Metroid Prime 2 remaster will be out in early 2025, predicting that it will land between Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and Xenoblade Chronicles X.
With the former arriving in January and the latter in March, this would put Metroid Prime 2 squarely in February. Even if this is an educated guess, it would make sense. Nintendo currently has no first party releases that month and February was also when it released Metroid Prime Remastered.
Nintendo seems to be padding out the Switch’s 2025 release schedule with remasters and re-releases, as it prepares for the Switch 2. While we still have no idea when the new console will be properly announced, all signs point to it launching in 2025.
Samus Hunter has also gone as far as to suggest Metroid Prime 3’s remaster could be out by next summer. To support this they point to an official art book for the Metroid Prime trilogy, that has just been announced for a summer 2025 release.
‘I’m looking forward to replay the entire trilogy on the Switch before that [sic],’ they said on X.
At the very least, the art book’s release is clearly meant to tie in with Metroid Prime 4, most likely as a promotional tool to hype up the game.
While diehard fans will lap it up regardless, you would think the best time to highlight artwork and behind the scenes info for the trilogy would be when all three games are readily available, and it seems that could well be what’s happening.
Pre-orders for the art book are already live on Amazon (Piggyback)
