Alan Carr will reportedly be harrowing the corridors of a Scottish castle in a green cloak very soon as he’s said to be the latest signing for Celebrity Traitors.

The BBC series’ first starry spin-off could see Alan dramatically asking Daisy May Cooper if she’s a Traitor. That is something we’d pay to see, and luckily we are up to date on our TV license fee.

This would unbelievably be Alan’s first multipe episode reality show as a contestant (before you say it, Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job is billed as a home improvement show and The Great Celebrity Bake Off was a standalone), and honestly, it’s about time. In fact, he’s late.

Luckily, the 48-year-old Picture Slam host and Changing Ends creator is in final talks for the Claudia Winkleman fronted show, a source has teased.

Alan is an absolute national treasure and will be an incredible contestant – he’ll make great telly as well as being a top player,’ they told The Sun.

‘Bosses are thrilled at the kind of scenes that could play out as he grapples with the more sensible names on the line-up as well as him giggling away with pals like Jennifer [Saunders, another rumoured name].’

They added he was a ‘dream signing’ and that bosses are ‘thrilled’ to be close to finalising a deal.

Also rumoured to be joining Alan is the aforementioned Daisy and her brother, Charlie Cooper. Just last month, Charlie teased to Metro that the siblings had something in the works, and his description certainly fits the bill.

‘It’s an unscripted project that will be announced very soon. It’ll be a chance to see us as ourselves, and the real relationship between us,’ he said.

Stephen Fry was high on Claudia’s wish list, and it appears her dream has come true. ‘No contracts have been signed yet — but he told the show’s bosses to name a time and date and he’ll be there,’ a source said.

While Bob Mortimer has confirmed that he’s very much keen to get involved with the fun and games. ‘It’s the only show of its kind on TV that I would agree to get involved with but, yes, definitely count me in, I’d love to do it,’ he told The Mirror.

‘I watch the American, UK and Australian versions of The Traitors. I think they’re all great, it’s a brilliant format. And Claudia is the best of the presenters.’

Their names were joined by Paloma Faith, Tom Daley, Richard, Clare Balding, and Robert Peston on an unconfirmed list shared by SuperTV247.

If the rumours are true then BBC have a very happy audience.

‘That would be an iconic line up,’ wrote Luke T Wilko. Emma is converted: ‘I was completely against a celeb version but if this list is right then that would be iconic.’

Account megmcart added: ‘Bob Mortimer and Daisy and Charlie Cooper omg we’ve won.’

Metro contacted BBC for comment, and a Traitors spokesperson responded: ‘The Traitors is a game that includes lies and deception, thus it would be foolhardy for any Faithful to speculate before the game has begun.’

The nine-part spin-off was originally commissioned at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August. Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC said the concept will be taken to a ‘whole new level’.

Celebrity Traitors will follow the same format as the original version. The rules of the show are relatively simple but lead to a game of complicated deceit.

There are two teams – Traitors and Faithfuls. The Traitors must not be discovered to win, and the Faithfuls must try to discover who they are to win.

Each day every remaining person votes for who should be banished in a round table, and the surviving Traitors get to then secretly murder players too.

Usually the contestants are playing to win the pot of £100,000, but celebrity versions often see the stars playing for charity.

The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
