Charli XCX well and truly Bratted out London’s O2 last night with a little help from some friends – including 00s hitmaker Robyn, who made a very surprise appearance.
The Swedish singer and DJ, 45, found international success in2005 with her Grammy-nominated fourth album, Robyn, after bagging two Billboard top ten songs in the 90s.
Singles including Be Mine and With Every Heartbeat solidified her as a pop favourite of the era, and her biggest hit came in 2010 in her mini-album series Body Talk with Dancing On My Own.
But since releasing her 2018 album Honey and subsequent tour – from which her song of the same name was used in the final season of HBO’s girls – Robyn has been very quiet.
After accepting the songwriter of the decade award at the NME Awards in 2020, Robyn has done the odd performance, but with no signs of her making new music.
But last night she returned to a UK stage for the first time in years to accompany Charli XCX on the second night of her UK Brat tour.

Charli XCX started the evening with a Shygirl remix of 365 – with Shygirl herself making an appearance – as the Apple singer also brought on her fiancé, The 1975 drummer George Daniel.
The crowd went absolutely wild when Robyn took to the stage alongside Yung Lean for a performance of 360, before the Swedish chart-topper performed Dancing On My Own (with the rest of the O2, it seemed).
The only concerts Robyn is listed to have done in the past four years before appearing at Charli’s Brat gig were at III Points Festival in October in Florida, and at Bergenfest in Norway in 2022.
Last year Robyn revealed she’d welcomed a baby in 2022 in secret – which could explain her absence.

The Show Me Love singer – real name Robin Miriam Carlsson – is thought to still be in a relationship with videographer Max Vitali.
Despite being private about her romantic life, she did refer to him as her ‘fiancé’ in a 2013 interview with Collection of Style magazine.
‘We became friends when we made the video for Be Mine, and now we work together a lot,’ she said.
‘He made all the videos for the last album.’
The pair separated for a short time following the release of her 2010 album Body Talk, but they had reconciled by 2018.
Robyn was previously engaged to Swedish MMA fighter turned artist Olof Inger for eight years between 2003 and 2011.
On her Brat tour, Charli XCX – real name Charlotte Aitchison – raised some eyebrows after her opening night in Manchester on Wednesday night, as some fans weren’t happy when she decided to light up a cigarette on stage mid-set.
‘Promoting smoking to audience full of minors.. I stan her but this is not okay,’ @bbladdict wrote, while @bloodylikeabody said: ‘Just nasty and British…’
Others however didn’t see what all the fuss was about, as many referred to her albums, which aren’t exactly made for kids with drug-heavy lyrics such as: ‘Should we do a little key? Should we have a little line?’
