Bruce Willis’ daughters Scout Willis and Tallulah Willis have shared rare pictures with their father after he was diagnosed with dementia.

The Die Hard actor, 69, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) last year which came after he retired from acting in 2022 due to aphasia.

Ever since, his wife Emma Heming Willis and his ex-wife Demi Moore have provided occasional updates on her husband’s health, with the former recently opening up about how they first noticed his speech change, which were the initial symptoms of FTD.

Bruce has two daughters with Emma, 46, – Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10 – and three adult daughters from his marriage to Demi, 62 — Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30.

Now Tallulah and Scout have shared a sweet picture of them doting on Bruce at home with the caption: ‘Grateful.’

The picture sees Tallulah sitting on the floor wearing a colourful velvet star jumper and cropped trousers, with her red hair short, looking up adoringly at her father.

Bruce wore a grey cardigan, blue trousers and black trainers, looking relaxed and happy in their company.

Last year Tallulah wrote about noticing the early signs of her father’s dementia in an essay for Vogue.

‘It started out with a kind of vague unresponsiveness, which the family chalked up to Hollywood hearing loss,’ she wrote.

‘Later that unresponsiveness broadened, and I sometimes took it personally.’

Tallulah – who this year opened up about her autism diagnosis and eating disorder recovery – went on to write she had felt her father had ‘lost interest’ in her as they struggled to communicate.

Emma told Town & Country in a recent interview that Bruce had ‘always had a stutter’ but his language began to change, and it was their youngest daughters who noticed it first.

She went on to say it was difficult to determine ‘where Bruce ended and where his disease started to take over’

‘For Bruce, it started with language. He had a severe stutter as a child. He went to college, and there was a theatre teacher who said, “I’ve got something that’s going to help you”,’ she explained.

‘From that class, Bruce realised that he could memorise a script and be able to say it without stuttering. That’s what propelled him into acting.’

Although Emma said their ‘plans to do and experience beautiful things with their girls’ she now had to reckon with the fact that will likely never happen.

This comes as Bruce has been spotted looking in high spirits on a number of occasions travellingin the passenger’s seat of a car around his Studio City neighbourhood in Los Angeles.

The most recent health update on Bruce came last month from Demi who said her ex-husband was ‘stable’.

Speaking at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival, according to Film News, she said: ‘The disease is what the disease is. And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is. But for where he’s at, he is stable.’

Demi also spoke of how she tells her kids to behave around their dad: ‘What I always encourage is to just meet [him] where [he’s] at. When you’re holding on to what was, I think it’s a losing game.’
