Watch Dogs: Legion has been revived through a new interactive experience, although it perhaps isn’t the sequel you’re hoping for.

At one point, Watch Dogs appeared to be Ubisoft’s next major franchise, joining the likes of Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry.

The upwards trajectory of the series, however, suffered a major setback with Watch Dogs: Legion, which reportedly underperformed commercially and may have put any future games on ice.

Ubisoft hasn’t abandoned the franchise though, as made clear by a new interactive audio adventure called Watch Dogs: Truth, which has been released on Audible.

Serving as a direct follow-up to Watch Dogs: Legion, Watch Dogs: Truth picks up in the same post-Brexit London setting and once again follows hacktivist group DedSec, along with returning sentient AI Bagley, as they try to stop the government’s cyber intelligence force.

While predominantly an audio drama, it features narrative choices at the end of each episode which will determine Dedsec’s next move in the story.

The main selling point might be the great voice cast. T’Nia Miller, known for Netflix’s The Haunting Of Bly Manor and The Fall Of The House Of Usher, plays Connie, alongside The Walking Dead’s David Morrissey, Freema Agyeman from Doctor Who, Looking actor Russell Tovey, and Gary Beadle – who’s perhaps best known as Paul Trueman in EastEnders.

The whole series spans roughly six hours in total (although this might depend on your choices) and is available now for £19.99, or you can get a 30-day free trial to Audible and listen to it all for free.

This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has teamed up with Audible for a spin-off audio adventure. In 2020, the company released Assassin’s Creed: Gold starring Riz Ahmed and Buffy’s Anthony Head.

While a proper Watch Dogs game might be out of the question for the foreseeable future, Ubisoft is clearly hoping to give the franchise a second wind through other media, including a Watch Dogs movie which began production in the summer.

Directed by Mathieu Turi, the Watch Dogs film is set to star Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes) and Sophia Wilde (Talk To Me), but no release date has been announced.
