Jude Law had a concerning method to get into the mindset of an FBI agent trailing a white supremacist in his latest movie, The Order.
The Holiday star, 51, is a far-cry from the lovable heartthrob in the Justin Kurzel directed movie which premiered at Venice Film Festival in September.
The Order is based on the 1989 non-fiction book The Silent Brotherhood which tells the story of veteran FBI agent, Terry Husk (Jude) who begins trailing white nationalist leader Robert Jay Matthews (Nicholas Hoult) as he uncovers a dangerous neo-Nazi movement.
The Talented Mr Ripley actor and Skins star rarely share the screen but the tension in their cat-and-mouse chase is undeniable. And all fuelled by some surprising method acting.
After Jude joined the project director Kruzel assigned him the task to follow his 34-year-old co-star for the day without being detected and assemble of file of all his activities.
‘It’s hard,’ the multi-Oscar nominee recalled about undertaking the hands-on request. But ultimately it paid off.

He continued to the LA Times: ‘I found it very rewarding.
‘It’s symbolic of the kind of director he is, how he builds the relationship with the actor and ultimately the character, and how he can then use that on the set.
‘There was such an intuitive sense between the two of us of who Husk was by the time we started to film.’
And clearly his sleuthing skills are up to scratch, as Nicholas explained during a press conference at Venice.
‘I just found out on the boat [in Venice] that one of Jude’s tasks was to follow me for the day. I just found out. But he was trailing me for a day and I didn’t know about it,’ he admitted.
‘I’ve never … prepared in this way before, where Justin gave us tasks,’ The Favourite actor added.

Jude and Nicholas’ first meeting finally happened the first four or five weeks into filming during the first time their character’s interact which ‘gave a great energy to those moments’.
The themes of the movie, set in 1980s Washington, rang a little too close to home for Nicholas during its premiere while racist riots raged in the UK.
‘It’s also a global thing at the moment, which is just a horrible situation,’ he told Metro at the time.
‘Hopefully the film, perhaps if people see it shedding more light on how these sorts of events occur and the people that are instigating them, can help prevent it happening anymore in the future.’
And Jude echoed: ‘It felt like a piece of work that needed to be made now. It’s always interesting finding a piece from the past that has some relevant relationship to the present day.’
The actor recently shocked fans of his festive favourite The Holiday after revealing that the quintessential Christmas cottage featured in the movie doesn’t actually exist.
He told BBC Radio 2 host Zoe Ball: ‘The director, she’s a bit of a perfectionist, toured that whole area and didn’t quite find the chocolate box cottage she was looking for. So she just hired a field and drew it and had someone build it.’
Then, tragically, added: ‘We were shooting in the winter here, and every time I go in that door, we cut and shot the interiors in LA about three months later.’
