Netflix viewers who watched 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi were left emotional wrecks.
The 2016 film starring People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, John Krasinski, follows six members of the Annex Security Team who fought to defend the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.
Based on Mitchell Zuckoff’s 2014 book of the same name, it was directed by Michael Bay based on a script by Chuck Hogan.
A Quiet Place star Krasinski was joined in the cast by James Badge Dale, Pablo Schreiber, Max Martini, David Denman, and Dominic Fumusa.
It grossed $69 million (£54 million) against a budget of $50 million (£39 million) making it one of Bay’s least successful films.
It also received mixed reviews from critics, currently sitting at a rating of 51% on Rotten Tomatoes.

But as it streams on Netflix many fans have dubbed it the ‘best movie’ they’ve ever seen while praising the emotional lead performances.
‘Watching 13 hours for the 3rd time again and each time I watch it, I get emotional 😭,’ AllthingsCaaddy wrote on X.
Ayafluffyclouds said it was the ‘best action movie they’d seen in a minute’, while PresYaStraata gave it a ’10/10.’
Willats94 described 13 Hours as ‘unreal’ as many urged anyone with a Netflix subscription to watch.
Es Cohen said the film ‘breaks their heart every time they watch it’ – and they’re not the only one, with many X users confirming its a hard watch.
Dave Fletcher wrote: ’13 Hours one of the best films I’ve ever seen! Young guns tops the lot but honestly such a brilliant film that.’
Josh Bieker agreed, adding: ‘But I think 13 Hours is one of the best war movies ever made in the story it was trying to tell. I loved the film since it first released and I still do all these years later.’
Speaking to Screen Rant in 2016, The Office US star Krasinski spoke about what motivated him to appear in the biographical film.

‘I actually came from a huge military family. So I have aunts, and uncles, and cousins who have served and are currently serving,’ he said.
‘So I’ve always wanted to do something like this. And this story in particular was so important because I have to admit, I was the one who was embarrassed to say I didn’t know anything about it.
‘And I think a lot of people are going to be feeling that way because I thought I knew everything there was to know about Benghazi. I watch the news. I read the newspapers.
‘When I read the book and hadn’t heard anything about it this, it was shocking. And I think that there’s something wrong there that everybody believes, or most people believe, that the story of Benghazi is political and that this is actually what happened the night of.’
13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi is available to stream now in Netflix.
