Great British Bake Off finalist Dylan Bachelet has become a household name after delighting Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith in the tent.

While the judges were obsessed with his innovative flavours on the Channel 4 show, the 20-year-old chef became something of a sex symbol with viewers as the competition went on.

Paediatric nurse Georgie Grasso from Carmarthenshire in Wales was crowned the winner, but Dylan has been getting plenty of attention from fans.

‘Walking around London last week, I was getting recognised every five minute. I’d go to the supermarket and get stopped in every aisle. People were wishing me luck for the final,’ he told The Guardian.

‘Everyone I met was lovely. Although I have been sent a few creepy DMs.’

That kind of attention is a new experience for Dylan, who insisted he has no plans to cash in on his looks.

‘I’ve never been ogled before,” he admitted. ‘It’s not something I’d ever lean into. I won’t be starting an OnlyFans. My sister sent me TikTok clips of me blow-torching a meringue in slow motion.’

He’s even been getting attention in the United States after was hailed as ‘the Captain Jack Sparrow of baking’ by the New York Times.

Funnily enough, the young Buckinghamshire lad admitted he ‘wasn’t expecting’ that kind of attention, particularly with so much of it focusing on his appearance.

‘The weirdest part was that it wasn’t in the food section, it was in the fashion pages,’ he added. ‘A lot of coverage has been about my appearance but people seem to like it, so that’s all good.’

He’s not offended by the Pirates of the Caribbean comparisons though, insisting ‘it would be a pretty sick life’ sailing around with his pals.

‘If I could be the actual Jack Sparrow of baking, that would be wicked,’ he said.

Although Dylan finished as a runner-up alongside Christiaan de Vries, he’s already achieved his dream of becoming a professional chef by landing a job at Michelin star restaurant The Five Fields in Chelsea.

After the finale, the venue posted a series of photos of him in the kitchen on social media, adding: ‘Huge congratulations to our own @DylanBachelet_ for making it through to @britishbakeoff 2024 finals this week!

‘Dylan has been very good at not letting on, even to us, how well he has done so we are all waiting with baited breath and cheering him on each episode. We couldn’t be more proud of his accomplishments!!’

Fans are delighted to see him doing so well, with follower Denise replying om Instagram: ‘It’s fabulous that he has found a job in a kitchen already. He is going to be a star!’

‘Well done Dylan – you will go far. Don’t ever lose that fantastic personality of yours,’ Amanda commented.

And Marina added: ‘Congratulations on your achievements in Bake Off Dylan, but even bigger congratulations on your journey to come.’

The Great British Bake Off is streaming on Channel 4.
