Old rivalries are not about to be reignited as Blur star Alex James praises Oasis over their sold-out reunion tour.
He joked it was ‘good manners’ that Noel and Liam Gallagher waited until after Blur’s reunion album and tour to reveal their big plans.
The Britpop icons — consisting of lead singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bass player Alex and drummer Dave Rowntree — landed 13 UK top 10 singles and seven number one albums.
Last year they surprised fans with a brand new album, The Ballad of Darren, before a string of Wembley Stadium gigs.
While Blur attracted huge attention, it was nothing compared to the bloodbath that Oasis’ tour inspired earlier this year.
‘It’s nice that they waited till we got our s**t out the way, you know? That’s very good manners,’ Alex said in a new interview.

He told The Observer he was ‘delighted’ for Oasis, adding: ‘I’m so happy for them. They’re great. I like them.’
Alex shared: ‘You know, there’s some people – mentioning no names – that when they walk in a room, you’re like: “Oh, f**king hell, he’s here.” But when either of them walk into a room, it’s like: “Heyyy.” He’s an incredible singer, Liam, and he can’t help being a rock star.’
The Battle of Britpop rivalry is legendary in music history, with the Parklife icons taking an early lead and scoring four Brit awards in 1995.
Single Country House outsold Oasis’ Roll With It at the time, storming to number one but the victory was shortlived as the Gallagher brothers released (What’s The Story) Morning Glory.
Ultimately, the She’s Electric hitmakers cemented themselves as the Britpop band to beat as public perception shifted against Blur and more specifically, Damon.

Oasis dubbed Blur ‘Art school w**kers’ with many framing the clash as a north-south class divide.
It seems this former rivary is now water under the bridge as Alex isn’t the only Blur star who has praised Oasis for their reunion.
Earlier this year drummer Dave told the BBC he would ‘definitely go and see’ the reunion tour as the bands now ‘get along well’.
‘Blur and Oasis combined changed what the pop music genre meant, and that doesn’t happen very often,’ he added.
Meanwhile, Graham, Blur’s guitarist, told The Sun it is ‘good for them and it’s good for fans.’
He added that he hadn’t been pushing for the famously feuding brothers to bury the hatchet though as it was ‘not really my business’.

However, Liam hasn’t been so complimentary of Blur though as he replied to a tweet by a fan account which said people tried to steal writing credits for Song 2.
‘Gotta be out of your box to claim to have written that song absolute TURDOS,’ Liam wrote on X in April.
He then doubled down against a fan who said it was ‘better than any song’ written by the Champagne Supernova duo.
Liam didn’t take kindly to this and hit back with: ‘I could write that standing on my head you spunkbubble. It’s music for posh brats.’
