A Come Dine With Me contestant has been fined £420 after spewing racist abuse at her neighbour.

Lucy Haughey, who appeared on the popular Channel 4 series in 2017, appeared in court earlier this year after being accused of calling Roman Kavur a ‘foreign c***’ in their shared landing in Glasgow.

Following a court case, the 44-year-old was found guilty of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, which was racially aggravated.

Today, she was sentenced in a hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court – but did not attend, due to ‘financial difficulties’ as she is currently based in Greece.

Her lawyer, Michael Gallen, confirmed her absence while Sheriff Collette Gallagher imposed the fine and a one-year non-harassment order.

During the trial, the court heard that Haughey initially had a good relationship with Kavur when he moved into his flat with his partner, Valerie Zbila, and their twin babies last April.

However, he claimed that the author and his partner had clashes after the move-in, but he did not get involved in them.

On March 8, Kavur alleged that he heard shouting near his property that evening – according to multiple outlets, he told the court: ‘I couldn’t really hear what she was saying, I heard shouting from the level below us – I didn’t know it was Miss Haughey at the time.

‘I looked through the glass window on the door and I saw Miss Haughey and she saw me.

‘She seemed intoxicated at the time and said racial abuse at me saying, “you foreign c***” or something like that.’

He recalled opening his door, a move he deemed a ‘mistake’ – when asked what he hoped to achieve from this, he replied: ‘To see why she said it but I don’t know – she was intoxicated.

‘She came a little bit close to me and I smelled alcohol so I closed the door then called the police.’

Kavur also claimed that Haughey kicked his door and damaged his letter box.

He left for work later that evening but returned home shortly after, and alleged that he could still hear her shouting.

‘I apologise if it was because the kids were crying or woke Miss Haughey up but it’s something that I can’t control,’ he told the court.

Haughey represented herself during the trial and questioned Kavur: ‘It was your opinion I was intoxicated when I appeared downstairs on a different level?’

‘Yes,’ he replied, to which she responded: ‘Wow, you could get a job as a sniffer dog.’

She denied all allegations against her and insisted that the incident did not happen, describing her former neighbour’s allegations as ‘malicious’ and ‘lies’.

PC Josh Kay also spoke to the court of the incident, sharing that he went to the Channel 4 star’s home at around midnight and arrested her.

‘There was a lot of shouting, speaking to a boy who was at the property saying that she should have phoned the police first and if she did so she wouldn’t have been arrested,’ he said.

According to the Sun, Haughey – who won the TV competition and the £1,000 prize – was fined £515 and ordered to do 234 hours of unpaid work this year after stalking a woman named Joanne Bell.

On top of this, Bell was granted a five-year non-harassment order, preventing Haughey from contacting her.
