I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’s most beloved trial could be getting its own spin-off series very soon.

Watching famous faces squirm while being covered in fish guts, or eating some kind of animal testicle, often make up the iconic Bushtucker trials.

Each year, the challenges will be slightly adapted to keep viewers engrossed, but there’s one that always remains pretty much exactly the same because you can’t mess with perfection. We’re of course talking about the Celebrity Cyclone.

Once the cast has been whittled down to the final four, they are all taken out of camp and are met with a giant slip-and-slide for the challenge.

Each person must wait until their time comes, and then carry a giant yellow star to assigned points at various intervals on a hill. Of course, this is a Bushtucker trial so things are not made easy. They are thrashed with wind, high-speed water jets and random objects as they try to climb against the outside forces.

To add to the fun, they are all dressed as superheroes because why not?

It’s become such a trademark of the series that fans look forward to it, and celebrities aim to make it to this pivotal episode. It’s been a part of the format since series six in 2006 [Matt Willis, Myleene Klass and Jason Donovan were the pioneering group], and the natural progression now is its very own TV show.

‘A spin-off show for the Cyclone makes absolute sense and across the industry it has always been considered a TV hit in waiting,’ a source told The Sun.

The concept will not involve I’m A Celeb hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, but it could include you! That’s because they are considering putting members of the public (translation: non-famous people) on the slide.

It is said that when the build is in place this year, bosses will begin testing out ideas for the standalone series, something they have not experimented with previously.

‘Cyclone could evolve and use the core basis of the water slide to become a wider show,’ the source continued.

‘If the testing proves successful there is every intention to look at a full series in the future.’

An ITV insider added to the publication that bosses felt the idea was worth exploring, and they’ll be looking at all aspects of the game. Makers Lifted Entertainment have already trademarked Celebrity Cyclone, so they are ready to go.

Over the years, many stars have given it a go and provided countless iconic moments.

Vernon smashed it (Picture: ITV/REX)

Vernon Kay set a record for the pure speed he was able to achieve. The extreme wind and water proved no contender for Vernon, and he stayed firmly on his assigned point whilst other campmates were washed away.

On the other hand, it was Celebrity Cyclone one, Joel Dommett nil when he was slammed onto his head during the task. Luckily he laughed it off and was fine to continue.

Matt Hancock in gold micro shorts may be something that viewers want to forget, but Stacey Solomon getting drenched with an endless spray of water is a humorous moment that they look back on fondly.

Even Ant and Dec, both 49, put on the hotpants uniform to face the task in 2012, for a worthy cause, Text Santa. Although they called it ‘fun’ Dec took home a not-so-fun souvenir. He sustained a shoulder injury that required six months of physiotherapy.

We’re yet to discover who will be gripping onto the slide for dear life this year, however, we do know it won’t be the latest eliminated campmate Tulisa. Despite it being around a week away, viewers are already counting down the moments.

‘This year’s cyclone is going to be unreal no matter who is in it!’ wrote fan account ImACeleb24 on X. ‘Who else is already giddy with excitement about this years Celebrity Cyclone?!!!’ asked Samanth.

Jessey Pearce added: ‘With these remaining campmates I think this celebrity cyclone is gonna be the best one yet!’

Lara Terry has even suggested they bring it forward: ‘Suggestion for @imacelebrity…don’t boot anyone out for the next few days, and use the time to prepare a 10 person Celebrity Cyclone run. Cos I am desperate to see every single of of those people give it a go.’

Those who’ve accepted that it’s not going to be an all current campmates affair have began to fantasise about their dream lineup.

‘Need GK [Barry], the Rev [Richard Coles] and Maura [Higgins] in the Celebrity Cyclone. That would be a hoot,’ wrote Faye. Meanwhile Amy wants ‘Danny [Jones], Alan [Halsall], Oti [Mabuse] & Melvin [Odoom]’.

Metro contacted ITV for comment.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
