The beloved folk singer Newton Faulkner shaved his head completely bald in a moving moment during a live performance in London.

The noughties singer UK tour came to an end in London just a few days ago, and as a way to commemorate the moment the singer made a powerful choice to shave his head bald.

The singer had been known for his long ginger dreadlocks which he has had since her was 15, but in a ‘powerful moment’ the singer decided to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Newton’s sister Lottie took an electric razor to his head while he performed an acoustic version of his most popular song, Dream Catch Me.

‘I had a lot of hair for a very long time,’ said the singer in a post to his fans.’I had been considering shaving my head for a little while and then when we got talking to Teenage Cancer Trust, I realised that the time had officially come and if I’m going to do it, it’s a great opportunity to help some people that really need it,’ he captioned a post on social media.

‘So, on stage in front of a London crowd at The Islington Assembly Hall, with my wife and eldest son side of stage, my sister, shaver in hand, while playing Dream Catch Me, the deed was done.’

‘Wonderful gesture, wonderful cause and you really suit a shaved head!’ said dw.drawings.

‘Amazing, well done! End of an era but you have a lovely head x,’ said annie.wheels.

‘Incredible thing to do by a fantastic artist and entertainer the best stage presence of anyone I’ve watched live quite comfortably. I shall be donating right away. Well done Sir 👏🏻,’ said Luke4no.

The singer explained that the moment was ‘undeniably powerful’ as audience members teared up during this moving scene.

‘I could see a good few teary eyes in the room, I’m not entirely sure why, but I could feel it in the air, it was an undeniably powerful moment.

‘So, now on with next chapter, a time of new music, for baldly going where no man has gone before, for hats and raising as much money for Teenage Cancer Trust as we possibly can.

He added: ‘Teenage Cancer Trust do amazing things and have done for a long time, they were the first charity I ever really got involved with, some 20 something years ago and I was so honoured and grateful to be in a position to help. I still am. If you can, please give generously to a great cause.’

In an interview with Metro, the singer recently revealed that he nearly scrapped his biggest ever hit from his debut album.

‘He recalls telling music execs: ‘”I’m not sure about that one. It seems a bit, that’s a bit normal”. I remember at the time, I was a bit like, “I’m not sure” and they’re like, “No, we really, we really think that should be on the album. In fact, we think it should probably be the second single.”

‘I was like: “Yeah, maybe. But let’s see how it goes.”‘
