WWE is heading to Netflix in January 2025, and fans can’t wait to see how professional wrestling will look in the new era.

For the first time in its 31-year history, Monday Night Raw is heading to streaming rather than traditional television, and fans in the UK will be getting all WWE programming this way.

Some people have been wondering if a revival of the more adult, ‘X-rated’ Attitude Era could be on the cards.

However, it doesn’t sound like WWE fans should expect anything too risque when Raw shifts to Netflix on January 6.

‘We’re not changing the rating of our programming,’ confirmed WWE President Nick Khan while chatting to reporters at Netflix HQ this week.

He added: ‘So there’s some online chatter about, ‘Oh, it’s going to be R-rated’, or for us old folks, X-rated. That’s definitely not happening. It’s family-friendly, multi-generational, advertiser-friendly programming. It’s going to stay that way.’

Wrestling legend Triple H – real name Paul Levesque – is in charge of WWE’s shows as the company’s chief content officer, and he reiterated Khan’s comments.

He said: ‘It’s a safe place for families, for kids, for everybody, to be able to view the programming. That will not change.’

That’s not to say fans shouldn’t expect some exciting changes as a result of the move, with Khan noting that WWE will have ‘more global flair’ as they and Netflix embrace viewers around the world.

Netflix also teased some major crossover plans in the future, with the possibility of spinoffs shows featuring WWE superstars and characters.

Bela Bejaria, Netflix’s chief content officer, told reporters: “We’re looking forward to doing documentaries, taking that great history and those characters, [using] that on the unscripted and the scripted sides.

‘There are so many great stars that come from WWE that we [already] have a great relationship with on the TV and movie side.’

One big question for viewers is the run-time, with Raw currently airing for two hours weekly amid rumours both that and SmackDown could increase to three in the New Year.

‘I’ll let you know January 6,’ Triple H joked, after previously telling reporters that WWE and Netflix were still ironing out the finer details.

When is WWE moving to Netflix?

WWE is switching over to Netflix from January 2025, and for UK fans that’ll be from the get-go on New Year’s Day.

The official move is the January 6 episode of Monday Night Raw (for US fans, that’s the only show heading to Netflix right now) – for us Brits, it’s a real game changer.

What to expect from the first WWE Raw on Netflix?

The first Raw of the new era is set to be stacked from top to bottom, and Triple H has already confirmed some exciting plans.
