If you’ve already binged Keira Knightley’s Netflix thriller Black Doves and looking to fill the void, we’ve got you covered.

The espionage drama, which follows Keira’s spy Helen as she avenges her lover MI5 agent Jason’s (Andrew Koji) murder, is one of the best Christmas thrillers since Die Hard.

But the comedown from the show – arguably too short with just six episodes – has been tough and now we’re itching for our next action-packed hit to see us through the festive season.

The Madness

The Madness has been described by Netflix viewers as ‘excellent’ and a hark back to ’70s paranoia thrillers’.

The action kicks off when Colman Domingo’s media pundit and TV host Muncie Daniels commits the ultimate no-no for anyone who doesn’t want to stumble across a dead body when he isolates himself in a cabin in a dark wood to write his novel.

Suffice to say, Muncie’s book gets shelved as he has more urgent matters to contend with when his little trip culminates in him being framed for the murder of a white supremacist.

The Night Agent

The Night Agent is possibly’s Netflix’s biggest thriller to date – according to the streamer it is its 7th most popular show ever and 812 million hours were watched of season 1 in the first year of its release.

The show follows Peter (Gabriel Basso) who must find a mole planted at the heart of the US government while protecting tech CEO Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan) from the criminals who murdered her family.

December would be the perfect time to binge The Night Agent in preparation for season 2 as all 10 episodes are landing on Netflix on January 23.

The Diplomat

If you want a weekend where you barely leave your sofa, look no further than The Diplomat, which has two seasons to binge.

Starring Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, the US ambassador to the UK, the showfollows her efforts to defuse international crises and form strategic alliances with other countries while managing her deteriorating marriage to Hal (Rufus Sewell).

The Diplomat has been a big hit with viewers, who stated it was the ‘best show of 2024’, as well as critics, with season 1 and season 2 scoring 89% and 95% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Recruit

Noah Centineo’s lawyer Owen Hendricks does not have an easy ride when he starts working for the CIA in The Recruit.

His life is immediately thrown into turmoil when Eastern European asset Max (Laura Haddock) threatens to reveal her relationship to the agency if they do not free her from prison.

After Hendricks begins negotiations with Max, he finds himself plunged into complex international conflicts with bloodthirsty parties putting his life in danger.

Fool Me Once

A listicle on Netflix thrillers would be incomplete without the inclusion of at least one Harlan Coben adaptation – who has practically created his own Marvel-style universe on the streamer.

Earlier this year, his most recent offering Fool Me Once was all anyone could talk about, and not just because it starred one of the best duos in TV history: Dame Joanna Lumley and Michelle Keegan.

It’s worth watching to see the excellent sparring between their characters alone, but stay to find out what actually happened to Maya’s (Michelle) husband Joe (Richard Armitage), whose brutal murder is not quite how it seems.

The Burning Girls

The Burning Girls may have slipped under your radar – but it’s an error you should immediately rectify.

It follows Reverend Jack Brooks (played by Samantha Morton) and her teenage daughter Florence (Ruby Stokes), who arrive in the village of Chapel Croft looking for a new start following a sudden loss.

However, the quaint picturesque village has an incredibly dark history that boils up to the surface when the Reverend discovers multiple people have vanished from the area, never to be seen again.

Dark

Dark is one of the highest rating original series on Netflix, with a 95% critic rating and 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The German-language series stars when a child disappears from remote village Winden leading to the discovery of a time-travel wormhole hidden in a nearby forest.

What ensues is an exploration of genertional trauma and twists so mind-bending you won’t be able to stop thinking about them. But don’t just take our word for it: Reddit user Feukorv said it was the ‘best thought out and planned show’ of all time.
