Nina Dobrev is likely feeling very indebted to her former The Vampire Diaries co-stars Candice King and Kat Graham who stopped a backdrop from falling on her.

The actresses were speaking with writer Carina MacKenzie at the Epic Con’s I Was Feeling Festive convention when disaster struck.

Just before the terrifying moment, the trio were happily sharing their experience of working on the show for eight seasons, and were ironically talking about on-set injuries. Quickly, the crowd began to shout: ‘Watch out!’ and the women sprung into action.

As the temporary boards, positioned behind them on the stage, began to fall, Candice, 37, protected Nina, 35, by pushing her out the way. In moving to save her, she also saved herself as the board that was once behind her then began to fall too.

Meanwhile Kat, 35, was on cleanup duty and saved both boards from falling all the way to the ground, potentially hitting audience members.

‘Not today, not today!’ Kat stated, as she resolved the situation.

She then joked she didn’t want to see any ‘Bonnie saves the day memes’. Bonnie Bennett is Kat’s character in Vampire Diaries, while Nina played Elena and Candice was Caroline.

The fans did exactly that, with one viral TikTok video’s caption reading: ‘After all these years Caroline and Bonnie are still saving Elena.’ Even Candice got in on the action sharing the video and writing: ‘I’m dying 😂 WHAT A MORNING. Bonnie & Caroline got you Elena.’

When the series of events was unfolding, Nina made the unusual decision to take off her jacket. After, she explained that her choice was due to thinking the initial panic was for an entirely different reason.

‘I thought it was a spider… I was taking my jacket off like ahhh,’ she told the crowd.

Carina complimented the superwomen for ‘moving so fast’ before adding: ‘I’m too old for this s**t.’ ‘You guys, the show is still trying to kill us!’ Candice weighed in.

The event was taking place in Covington, Georgia, where Vampire Diaries was filmed. The American city stood in for the fictional location of Mystic Falls.

The popular show ran from 2009 to 2017, and found a loyal fanbase with many of them still showing up for conventions that celebrate the show.
