Keira Knightley has revealed the thought of watching more Peppa Pig has her rethinking having more children.

The 39-year-old actress is best known for starring in films including Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, Anna Karenina and most recently in the Netflix thriller series Black Doves.

Keira has been married to musician James Righton, 41, since 2013.

The pair share two daughters – Delilah, 9, and five-year-old Edie.

During a recent interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Keira was asked by the host what sort of movies and shows her kids were currently tuning into.

‘They’re very cool right now. It’s really weird. They’re into like Studio Ghibli,’ she said, referencing the Japanese animation studio founded by Hayao Miyazaki and behind My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away and The Boy and the Heron.

She continued: ‘Beautiful things where you’re like, oh, this is just lovely, after seven years of Peppa Pig. You know?’

‘You know that thing where you’re like, “Oh, you know, they’re so nice, should we have another one?” she explained about deciding whether to expand her family.

‘And you think, “oh, yeah, I could do the pregnancy. I could even do the birth”. But I cannot watch any more Peppa Pig. It’s not going to happen,’ she quipped.

Despite being a massive star, Keira said her efforts to appear cool to her young daughters hadn’t been successful so far too.

Sharing a story about how her eldest recently held a disco party, Keira said she was excited to hit the dancefloor but got told she was ‘embarrassing’ and was then advised to ‘just go and stand in the corner’.

During the interview Kiera also spoke about wanting to ‘kick ass’ in her latest project, which sees her play Helen Webb, the wife of the Secretary of State for Defence who learns that her secret identity as a Black Dove spy is in danger after her lover is killed by London’s underworld.

‘I’m a mum of two and I’m so child friendly at home. I just wanted to do something that was a bit punk and kind of blew everything up,’ she added.

After receiving the script and seeing she didn’t have any fight scenes but after some rewrites she got her chance, but ‘couldn’t be lazy anymore and had to really get down to the gym and work out a lot and learn it all’.

Since landing on Netflix last week Black Doves, which boasts an 100% rating on review site Rotten Tomatoes and also stars Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire, has been praised by viewers.

They’ve called it ‘gripping’ and ‘one of the best shows of the year’.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs on NBC in the U.S.
