Outnumbered child star reveals major spoiler for grown-up character in Christmas special-Joel Harley-Entertainment – Metro

The Brockman family are back for Christmas! The BBC’s most chaotic family are reuniting for an all-new special, set to air on Boxing Day this year.

Consisting of mum and dad Pete and Sue (Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner) and kids Karen, Jake and Ben (Ramona Marquez, Tyger-Drew Honey and Daniel Roche) the family are all back – eight years after the show’s last episode.

This comes weeks after their Children In Need reunion, in which the Brockmans helped out with a charity message to mark the occasion.

Set at Christmas, this very special episode will follow the family as they grapple with the challenges of parenting adult children, all of whom have their own lives and problems to deal with.

Written and directed by creators Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton, it sees Sue and Pete try to gather their children together for a traditional family Christmas. But fate, of course, has other ideas.

And, as viewers wait to see what’s new in the Brockman household, star Tyger-Drew Honey has revealed news of a new addition to the family – that’s right, Pete and Sue are grandparents!

Speaking about the new episode, Tyger, now 28 (don’t they grow up so fast!) revealed that his character Jake is now father to a young daughter.

Asked how Jake is finding fatherhood, Tyger said: ‘Jake absolutely adores his child and is very much in love with the mother of his child but he has been having struggles with fatherhood as any parents of small children can relate… Especially the lack of sleep and his daughter’s tendency to impersonate animals.’

He continued: ‘If I had to compare her personality to either Karen or Ben when they were younger, I’d say she’s got more of a Ben personality.

‘She’s got some of the genes that Ben and I got from Dad.’

Young Tyger rose to fame alongside screen siblings Ramona, 23, and Daniel, 25, and was just a teenager when he first landed his role in the iconic BBC sitcom.

‘For me it’s like being back with really good friends again who you’ve known for ages and just hanging out. It feels very natural being back together and I look forward to seeing these guys,’ said Ramona of her return to the show.

‘I was saying this morning it’s really nice relating to Tyger, Ramona and Daniel as adults, and getting to know the adult versions of them, it’s been really really nice,’ said proud screen mum Claire, 59.

‘I was also thinking that if Claire and I were your actual parents I’d be thinking we’ve done a really good job,’ added her co-star and real-life husband Hugh, 62.

‘Filming this special really made me appreciate the opportunity that Outnumbered gave us and how inextricably connected it is with our lives and I’m very grateful,’ Daniel said.

‘I agree we don’t really have a point of comparison, it always felt quite normal and natural for us. Everyone on Outnumbered was always so caring and made sure we were having a good time,’ agreed Ramona.

‘In terms of work, I consider Outnumbered to be such a great achievement and I feel privileged to have been cast in the show. It’s given me a career which I may not have realised I wanted if I hadn’t have done Outnumbered,’ Tyger added.

However, earlier this year, Tyger revealed how the work hadn’t been so easy to come by once the series ended in 2007.

‘My acting career over the years has just been… I have done some good things but then their have been times that I’ve worked on building sites,’ he told The Sun in September.

He continued: ‘I just dream of having constant acting work and I really hope the hype and the momentum of this special continues so that we can all have a really successful next year because the last three or four years have been tough for this industry.’

‘Then you become an actor, and then you become an adult, and you’ve got a mortgage and different things and then sometimes the boat doesn’t always come.’

Ah, adulthood.
