Brenda Lee, the singer behind Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree, has shared an emotional video as she reacts to making music history.

Although she was just 13 when she released the song, Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree in 1958, it has become a major festive hit that’s stood the test of time.

In 2019 the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and the song has set the record for a time between the original release and its topping the Hot 100 (65 years).

Now the star has reached a new milestone as she becomes the only female country artist to have a song with over a billion streams on Spotify.

A video shared on social media showed the singer looking emotional as she was awarded theplaque commemorating her work.

A caption read: ‘Join us in congratulating Brenda on her milestone of hitting 1 billion streams of “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” on @spotify, making her the only female country artist with a holiday song in Spotify’s Billions Club.

‘She was also honored for achieving 7x Platinum by the @riaa_awards for “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.” 🎄🎶’

Fans were delighted for the star and celebrated her work in the comment section on social media.

‘No one deserves these honors more than the legendary Brenda Lee!!🎄❤️👏😍,’ said mikeya247.

‘Oh, Brenda! Congratulations. I love you and your beautiful songs.❤️,’ said mostafe_amed_jr.

‘AND JUST IMAGINE THIS, SHE RECORDED & SUNG THE SONG AT THE AGE OF 13 YEARS OLD. AND IT IS STILL A VERY BIG HIT EVERY CHRISTMAS 🎄🎄🎶🎶,’ said fast_furios1116.

The 79-year-old, who is also known for her major hits Sweet Nothin’s, If You Love Me, and The End of The World, was just 13 when she recorded the iconic festive bop.

Fans were shocked earlier this year when reminded that the beloved Christmas hit was recorded by a child, given the depth and incredible sound of the singer’s voice.

A year before she released her beloved ode to a Christmas tree, Brenda achieved her first Billboard hit with One Step at a Time – at age 12.

She went on to sell more than 100 million records globally and became Billboard’s Top Female Artist of the Decade in the 1960s.

Brenda has won a Grammy Award, four NARM Awards three NME Awards, and five Edison Awards and became the first woman to be inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

In 2023, she was named by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest singers of all time.
