Netflix star José de la Torre dies aged 37 after ‘serious’ illness diagnosis-Ruth Lawes-Entertainment – Metro

Netflix star José de la Torre has died aged 37, according to Spanish media.
The actor, who was from Montilla, Córdoba, was best known for the streamer’s thriller Toy Boy.
De la Torre died on Thursday afternoon months after being diagnosed with a ‘serious’ illness, his local paper Montilla Digital reported.
In Toy Boy, he played key character Ivan in every episode of the crime drama’s two seasons.
The show follows stripper Hugo (Jesús Mosquera) who is seeking justice after spending seven years in a Málaga prison for a murder he did not commit.
De la Torre’s other TV credits include Amar es para siempre (To Love is Forever), Vis a Vis: El Oasis (Face to Face: The Oasis) and Serve and Protect.

He also appeared in other shows including De entre los muertos (Picture: Netflix)
Tributes have been paid by fellow Spanish stars including actor and singer Lolita Gonzalez Flores, the daughter of the legendary Lola Flores.
On Instagram, she wrote: ‘How difficult it is for me, without barely knowing you, to accept that you are gone, I met you in Salome the play, it was very few hours that we shared, but your 37 years hurt me, how unfair life is sometimes, handsome inside and out.
‘Your departure hurts me, it hurts me, and the pain of those who loved you hurts me, I didn’t have time to love you, but I did have time to know you, @josedelatorre___ the consolation for Your parents and your sister will be difficult, heaven awaits you with open arms, how sad, very soon you are gone very soon.’
Spanish singer Pablo Alborán also shared his condolences in an Instagram story, writing: ‘I can’t believe you’re gone so soon. I’m devastated by your departure. I’m sending kisses to all of your family and friends.

‘We’ll never forget you Jose. Wherever you are, I’m sure you’re wearing a Hawaiian shirt, a killer mustache, and those sunglasses like the ones we wore that day.’
De le Torre’s fans also paid their respects on Instagram, with @alvarooomp_05 sharing: ‘The best of all in Toy Boys, I felt bad because of his early departure, I loved him and I love him very much, I never met him in person but I admire him and his departure leaves me sad. I will never forget you Jose!!’
@encarni_paredes commented: ‘I saw him in Amar para siempre and I am very sad 😢R.I.P. he was too young to die.’
@natividadarroyobergantino added: ‘Sending my love to his entire family.’
De la Torre previously spoke to Montilla Digital about his decision to pursue showbusiness, explaining: ‘From a very young age I found refuge in cinema. But not so much in acting, at least at the beginning.
‘I was a child who couldn’t stop watching movies, simply to entertain myself, and that caught me and sowed in me the seed that would later become the desire to want to dedicate myself to it.’
Outside of acting, De la Torre also was a renowned fashion model.
