The expected results of Strictly Come Dancing 2024 have been turned on their head a few days before the final.

This weekend the winner of the 20th anniversary season will air, with four famous faces set to hit the dancefloor with three performances before one wins the Glitterball Trophy.

Those competing are comedian Chris McCausland and his partner Dianne Buswell, former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec, Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola, and JLS member JB Gill and Lauren Oakley.

After recently speaking about being proud of how far he’s come since the show began, the odds are now in Chris’ favour.

The 47-year-old remains the favourite to win the show, with odds of 1/20 and a 95% probability of victory.

According to Betfred, Chris is the ‘shortest priced Strictly frontrunner in the market’s history’ and that they’ve never seen a favourite this strong.

‘The Glitterball trophy feels within reach for comedian Chris McCausland. With odds of 1/20 to win this weekend, he stands as the bookmakers’ strongest favourite in the competition’s history, boasting a massive 95% chance of victory,’ Betfred’s Kayley Cornelius said.

‘Yet, while Chris’s win seems almost certain, the battle for second place is far less clear,’ she added.

Meanwhile, JB ‘appears to have made a dramatic U-turn’ after he had been tipped to leave during the semi-final.

Instead, he’s now emerged as the favourite for runner-up, with his odds at 1/16 and Kayley saying he’d ‘staged a remarkable comeback’.

Sarah’s odds are now at 25/1 while Tasha, who was once considered the favourite to win by betting agencies as well as viewers astounded by her dancing abilities, her odds now sit at 33/1.

‘For Tasha it’s been a significant setback. Previously the favourite to win, her chances of even finishing in the Top 3 now look slim,’ she added.

Speaking to Metro before the semi-final, Dianne shared many people had told her at the start of the show they believed her and Chris would be the ‘joke act’ this season.

However, they’d since had to ‘eat their words’ after they proved it was possible they could be legitimate contenders.

Meanwhile, Chris initially wondered if he was part of a ‘box ticking exercise’.

‘Can the blind guy dance? I didn’t think I could. I didn’t know what I was getting into,’ he admitted.

However, he went on to say he felt like they won the minute they were ‘consistent and challenging preconceptions’.

‘We had done what I wanted to do and everything else then became a bonus. I didn’t think we’d get to Blackpool and every week is an extra bonus,’ he shared.

The other stars previously sent home on this season were Pete Wicks, Montell Douglas, Jamie Borthwick, Wynne Evans, Shayne Ward, Sam Quek, Dr Punam Krishan, Paul Merson, Nick Knowles, Toyah Willcox and Tom Dean.

The 2024 Strictly Come Dancing finale airs on Saturday at 6pm on BBC One.
