Keira Knightley makes shocking confession about Love, Actually that will frost your heart-Kitty Chrisp-Entertainment – Metro

Keira Knightley has confessed she doesn’t watch Love, Actually at Christmas time. In fact, she hasn’t seen it for 21 years since she saw it for the first time at the premiere aged 18.

While the Richard Curtis film has a place in many people’s festive hearts – with all its love-centric storylines, and Christmas cheer – Keira prefers to watch Die Hard in December.

‘No,’ Knightley admitted when asked by Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show whether she ever watches Love Actually during the holiday season. ‘I saw it on the premiere when I was 18, and I’ve never seen it since.’

‘This is nothing about Love Actually,’ she added. ‘I don’t really watch anything I do. But I know that Love Actually obviously has become this massive thing. And for lots of people, it’s part of their Christmas. But no, I’ve not seen it since then.’

In the film, Keira plays Juliet, who marries her husband Peter – played by Chiwetel Ejiofor – and she slowly finds out his best friend Mark, portrayed by Andew Lincoln, is madly in love with her.

What first comes across as rudeness actually turns out to be Mark’s peculiar way of preserving himself when faced with love-of-his-life Juliet.

The situation ends in Mark turning up to Juliet’s house pretending to be carol singers, with Peter handily safely indoors.

One of the film’s most iconic scenes then plays out, as Mark confesses via huge signs his love for Juliet, who stands in the doorframe of the house.

In hindsight, the scene is quite creepy, as Mark essentially obsesses over his best friend’s wife, all the while being very unfair and inappropriate.

Keira recently opened up about that aspect of the film, and admitted she had to work hard for her performance to come across as warm and not utterly freaked out.

‘The slightly stalkerish aspect of it – I do remember that,’ she said in an interview with the LA Times. ‘My memory is of Richard, who is now a very dear friend, of me doing the scene, and him going, “No, you’re looking at [Andrew] like he’s creepy,” and I’m like [in a dramatic whisper], “But it is quite creepy.”‘

Knightley also recalled having to reshoot the scene ‘to fix my face to make [Lincoln] seem not creepy.’

This comes as Keira starred in Netflix thriller hit Black Doves, in which she plays spy called Helen Webb who seeks to avenge her murdered lover.

Happy Valley’s Sarah Lancashire plays a very different character to the one we’re used to in cold organisation boss Reed, while Ben Whishaw also puts in a stellar performance as Helen’s best pal and protector Sam Young.

Elsewhere in the Jimmy Fallon interview, Keira revealed that she will not have any more children after Delilah, nine, and Edie, five, for the sole reason that she can’t stomach watching any more Peppa Pig.

Keira has been married to musician James Righton, 41, since 2013.
