Chris McCausland’s historic win on Strictly Come Dancing has ‘put him in a whole new league’ that could net him millions, according to an expert.

The 47-year-old became the first blind contestant to lift the Glitterball Trophy with partner Dianne Buswell on the BBC show over the weekend.

His triumph has cemented the comedian as a household name in the UK and his star will only continue to soar.

Celebrity and PR expert Chad Teixeira, who’s worked with the likes of Katie Price, told Metro that Chris could make £5,000,000 in the next few years.

‘This is just the start,’ Chad stated. ‘With the exposure from Strictly, Chris could sign deals worth £2-5 million over the next few years if he plays his cards right.

‘He’s got universal appeal and now, the audience to match.’

Chris could be eyeing up a presenting job on a ‘major TV show’ which could result in a £500,000 annual pay cheque, with Chad predicting the BBC ‘will be eager to retain his talents.’

But it’s not just TV execs who will be lining up to offer Chris work, as it’s likely brands will be rushing to work with him, which could boost his bank balance by up to £2,000,000.

Chad said: ‘Chris’s win on Strictly has put him in a whole new league. With prime-time TV opportunities, an extended comedy tour, and potential brand endorsements, he could easily be looking at an additional £1-2 million in earnings over the next year. If he lands a long-term TV deal, that number could climb even higher.

‘Chris has everything it takes to capitalize on this moment. He could secure a presenting role on a major show, which alone could bring in upwards of £500,000 annually. Combine that with a best-selling comedy tour and sponsorships, and he’s well on his way to becoming one of the top-earning entertainers of the year.

‘He has also extended his UK comedy tour, “Yonks!,” by over 100 dates, with shows scheduled through April 2026, reflecting his growing popularity. Capitalizing and focusing on his own personal tour as opposed to taking part in the strictly live tour was a clever career decision to ensure relevance and success while his popularity is high post Strictly.’

Chris very nearly didn’t pursue a career in showbiz after previously working as a web developer and in sales. He also nearly got into the MI5 to become a real-life James Bond but said he did not make the final cut due to his eyesight.

However, Within a year of performing, he’d been tipped as a rising star, including placing third in Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny? competition.

Chris’ first major on-screen role was Rudi the market trader in the 00s TV classic Me Too!, which followed the parents of six children in their day-to-day lives in the fictional city of Riverseafingal in Scotland.

He went on to act in 2014’s Jimmy McGovern drama series Moving On, alongside Anna Crilly and Neil Fitzmaurice before multiple panel show appearances.

Chris’ TV credits include all the classics: Would I Lie To You?, Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Richard Osman’s House of Games, among others.

As well as dramas and panel shows, Chris was also a contestant on the short-lived Channel 4 reality series, Scared of the Dark, which was presented by Danny Dyer.

And in 2023, he presented his own four-part travelogue series Wonders of the World I Can’t See for Channel 4.

Strictly Come Dancing is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
